Can Buddha’s Teachings help you become a good student?

A student is, at their core, an individual with unique thoughts, perspectives, and abilities—distinct from their parents, roommates, teachers, and friends. While it may be difficult for a student to communicate this individuality to society, it is vital that they first recognise it within themselves. As the Buddha's words "All things are preceded by the mind, led by the mind, created by the mind..." suggests, a person’s speech and actions arise from their thoughts. Therefore, it is essential to cultivate right thoughts—those that do not bring harm to one’s body, mind, or to others at home, school or university, and in society. Even when people understand their current circumstances, they often feel anxious about imagined future situations. This is a misguided perception, as such scenarios do not yet exist. We can not predict how others will think or behave, as their thoughts lie beyond our control. All eight characteristics of the path, are like scattered pebbles along a single road. Thus, a person is on one interconnected journey—not just progressing through isolated milestones.
