L Dear Family,
Meet Chloé—a smart and curious 7-year-old with a lot of heart. Based on the real-life daughter of author and actor Jamie Hector, Chloé loves to learn new things—and that means asking a lot of questions! Nurturing children’s curiosity, as Chloe’s family does, is key to building self-motivated learners who not only perform better academically, but also experience increased personal well-being. 1 The ability to cope with challenges is one of the most important skills you can help your child cultivate. The Chloé books correlate with theYale Child Study Center's resilience framework and the five core competencies from the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL).This will help you develop your child’s resilience and social and emotional learning (SEL).The resilience framework guides children to build identity, form relationships,
set goals, take action, and think optimistically. SEL helps children develop a healthy understanding of themselves, their emotions, and their relationship to the world. 2 Building SEL skills and exploring literature will help your child become a confident, well- rounded reader who is also healthy, responsible, and socially aware.
