Community Happenings Summer

Traveling the World Through Food We embarked on an exciting new initiative: monthly excursions to global destinations through cuisine! Each month we travel the world via food, featuring local cuisine for our morning tea. Our resident Kevin expressed a desire to visit Paris and indulge in French delicacies, so that’s exactly where we went. This program lets us explore the world whilst staying home, experiencing different cultures through their food. Australia Day Celebrations Our Australia Day celebration brought us together with lamingtons for morning tea, beer shooting, and an entertaining dunny toss game. We had so much enjoyment, and Terry was the fortunate winner of the lucky door prize. The casual atmosphere and classic Australian activities created proper Australia Day spirit.

Maggie Beer Foundation Program We’ve been participating in the Maggie Beer Foundation Trainer Mentor Program for the past year. We’ve learnt so much from this programme, from identifying areas to improve and building layers of flavour to finding ways to increase protein in our meals. This commitment to culinary excellence shows in every meal we share. Buffet Breakfast Success Our first buffet breakfast was a significant success! Excellent attendance and outstanding food options greeted us. The tables were set beautifully, and a resident’s speech thanking the kitchen and staff for their hard work brought the room together, all of us clapping. It’s wonderful when appreciation is expressed so genuinely. The buffet format let us select and serve our own meals, choosing exactly what we wanted. Valentine’s Week Valentine’s Week stretched the celebration! We started with Deal or No Deal and bingo fun, followed by a beautiful Valentine’s morning tea filled with lucky door prizes. We ended being serenaded by Elvis, bringing smiles and a little extra romance to our hearts. Extending Valentine’s across a whole week meant more of us could participate and enjoy.
