Eduardo Contreras Perez re-joins Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi as Assistant Director of Food and Beverage on 6 March 2023.

He is a globetrotting, award-winning trained sommelier who has worked at some of the finest restaurants and luxury hotels in the world, such as Four Seasons at Anahita in Mauritius, the One & Only Royal Mirage in Dubai, and Constance Ephelia in Seychelles. Eduardo also worked in public relations representing the Perelada Winery in Figueres, Spain, where he helped visitors understand the property's history and process of winemaking. Wine expert Perez holds several prestigious accolades including the " Best Tasting Award " and the first runner-up at the International Best Sommelier Competition in Shanghai, China, which was headed by Gerard Basset, "Best Sommelier of the World 2010 ". He also holds experience in wine academia - having spent time at the Culinary Institute of Mexico where he focused on Sommelier studies under Josep Roca, Sommelier and owner of the three-Michelin starred and Best Restaurant in the World 2013, El Celler de Can Roca, in Girona, Spain.
