that we may not hinder anyone from accepting the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. On a Japanese vessel the captain told us his wife and family were all in the earthquake district. He expressed deep gratitude for what our country was doing for his country at this time. First we showed him passages for his own personal need and then we told him what inspired our country to do it, how our nation though not a nation of individual Christians was a Christian nation, founded on the Bible, and the Bible taught us to love and care for our fellow-man. Some may deny this but the fact remains that because of our Christian ancestry and the teachings of our Lord both Christian and unbeliever are led to help suffering humanity. We want to praise God for a car being given for the work. It enables us to visit more docks, also to be of assistance to these men who are from far off lands with little money to spend and not knowing where to make necessary pur chases. We thank Him for letters received from inter cessors who are desirous of taking part of the burden. We trust that each one of our readers may do likewise. ¿S'fc .¿¡6. a » jfe SPANISH WORK R obert H . B ender, Supt.— Gospel M eetings an d H ouse to H ouse W ork am ong 50,000 M exicans in Los A ngeles an d V icinity. “I am debtor.” “Woe is unto me if I preach not the Gos pel.” When one feels, or rather realizes the force of the above Scriptures, there is nothing left to do but to preach the Gospel and would* to God that many more would feel this “woe,” so that the need for workers would be supplied. We realize more than ever the lack of workers at this time. Formerly, we had help through the Institute students but this new term finds our number greatly reduced because of those who were our helpers having graduated. One of our volunteer workers went to the Superintendent of one of the denominational boards to see if they would take over a work we were doing in a colony of Mexicans in Los Angeles. His reply was that they had calls for some twenty or more new missions to which they were unable to respond, as they had neither men nor means. We sim ply mention this in order that you may know how to pray. We praise God for the many converts He has given us and are impressing upon them the need of witnessing to others. In several of our camps we have some converts who gather the men and friends in their room and read and explain the Scriptures. One brother especially is very active and never misses an opportunity of testifying for the Lord and often gathers a goodly company in his home for us to preach to. Through our Bro. Reynolds we are now holding three and four Shop meetings a week with hundreds of Mexicans. The men are very appreciative of our message and always ask us to return. On the first Sunday of October we had a Rally Day in our little chapel in El Monte. On such occasions we have the converts from the different colonies and section houses come together for fellowship and they always prove days of blessing for all. We are expecting great things from God during this com ing Fall and Winter season and we covet the prayers of all the friends for this department of the Institute work as well as for the others, and trust that because of your in tercessions we will be able to write you later of victory through our Lord Jesus. Christ.

you will never forget it. It is God’s method of blotting out the past, and if you are ever to be saved, it will be through this Man”— “Be it known unto you, therefore. . . that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins; and by Him all that believe are justified from all things from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” This is the message that I would bring to the readers of The King’s Business this month from the Shop Depart ment. It is our one message to the men in the shops, as we go in and out among them. Before this reaches you we will be conducting in the city of Los Angeles over twenty meetings a week in the shops and factories. Is it any wonder that we crave your interest in the work? Pray for it, and help us in every way, you can to fulfill our re sponsibility to these men. As we do this, may God help us never to forget this verse that the Jewish clerk always re membered, “The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, cleanseth us from all sin,” and pray that the men to whom we min ister may never forget it either. If churches and missionary societies who would enjoy knowing more about this work could arrange to have a meeting for this purpose, the Superintendent of this Depart ment would be glad to come with the stereopticon, and tell them, through the pictures, of the work that is being done. M m SEAMEN’S WORK C laude P earson, Supt.— O ur W orkers b o ard all vessels in th e p o rt of San Pedro, holding G ospel Services an d D istrib u tin g L iteratu re. “There go the ships,” Psa. 104:26 Do you ever stop and think how much you owe the men of the sea? Much of the food on your table, the clothes on your body, the lumber in your home was transported to you on vessels from many lands. Our coast cities are teeming with vessels both small and great, manned by healthy, hearty, robust men, many of whom know not our Lord. A few weeks ago we were on one of these vessels and met a group of men who were anxious to talk about spirit- ■ ual things. After a few moments conversation, a gospel of John was given each and they were asked to read 1:1; 1 : 1 4 ; 20:31 and finally chapter three. A few remarks were made about the purpose of this particular gospel and our relationship to it. When the third chapter was completed the men were asked if they would like to have eternal life, if they would like to know their sins past, present, and future were provided for and forgiven? A positive answer being given us, we then read 1:12, “But as many as received Him to them gave He power (or the right) to become the sons of God; which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man but of God.” “Will you, right here and now put your hands in mine and repeat with me, ’I do here and now acknowledge I am a sinner and will receive Christ Jesus as my Sin-bearer, my Lord and Master. I will trust Him for my salvation and from this moment begin to live a life to please Him?’ ” Four of the five men repeated it one at a time and then, after some instruction on how to succeed in the Christian life, we answered some of the other man’s difficulties. “So many Christians live inconsistent lives,” he said. Here we could explain the differenence between mere pro fessing Christians and possessing Christians. We had tp acknowledge that his statement was partly true but that did not relieve him from .his own personal responsibility to God. Dear friend, may you and I live so close to Him
