Per Pupil Allocation
Each school’s per-pupil allocation is spent at the principal’s discretion for an array of instructional supplies and materials, textbooks, equipment repairs, professional development, software, school office expenses, and other goods and services. The per-pupil allocation is derived by multiplying the per-pupil rate by the projected enrollment at each school. The FY26 budget maintains the per-pupil allocation at $1,290,554, reflecting no increase from the FY25 allocation. Enrollment has been steadily declining across the district, but due to inflationary pressure, the grand total amount of funding in this area has remained the same. The Per Pupil tables provide a deep dive into per pupil information, including: • Cost Per Pupil • An explanation of state methodology for determining per pupil expenditure amounts • Where NPS stands in its per pupil expenditure as opposed to the state average, as well as to comparable districts • The FY26 per pupil allocation and a comparison to the FY25 allocation • A history of the use of per pupil by expense area from FY24 through projected FY26
