under the wing of former professional Michael Critcher. Michael coached Jamie from an 18 handicapper to professional in 18 months. John Routledge made a major career change in 2021 after winning the club championship playing off +1. He left the corporate world to become a PGA professional and join the team at Badgemore. Leo Allen became the youngest member of the Badgemore golf team when he joined them in 2020. Leo plays regularly at Badgemore and in BB&O events. Lyle and Asa Phillips have also made golf their careers of choice. Lyle (who plays to a handicap of 3) is a tour caddie and has worked with a number of European Tour players. These include Connor Syme, Ashton Turner, David Coupland and Shubhankar Sharma. Brother Asa is a tour professional who is attached to Badgemore. Asa has played events on the Euro Pro, The Clutch Pro and the Jamega Pro Golf tours. He can be regularly seen around the club honing his skills in preparation for tournaments. Now head professional at Frilford Heath, Tim Newton and his brother Matt were junior members at Badgemore. Tim became an assistant to then professional Jonathan Dunn, before moving to Leaderboard and then Calcott. When they were building their golfing skills at Badgemore, Tim and Matt planted an acorn by the 17th green. This is now an established young oak tree. As the club looks forward to the next 50 years in its history, both junior and young-adult golf looks to be in great health.

at Badgemore, providing daily access to the gym and an unrivalled and continually evolving programme of cardio, core strength, conditioning and relaxation classes. The junior academy Assistant professional Jamie Palmer has established and runs the junior academy at Badgemore. This provides weekly sessions at weekends and a series of camps during the various school holidays throughout the year. The club holds the Golf Mark & SafeGolf accreditations and is developing a strong junior section. In 2021, the men’s committee created a scholarship scheme to support juniors who show a developing skill and aptitude for the game. Jamie started his golfing journey at Badgemore and quickly decided that golf would be his career of choice. Introduced by his grandfather to the club, Jamie was taken
