New FTTX enclosures fromHellermanTyton
HellermannTyton has designed a range of outlets, distribution boxes, customer connection points and connectorised wall boxes that, combined with the fibre splice closures, provides full end to end FTTX solutions for both new developments and existing buildings. Depending on the size of the building, be it a large or small Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) or a Single Dwelling Unit (SDU), this range of products offers range of MDU fibre distribution enclosures to strengthen their FTTX product portfolio. Adding the new MDU enclosures allows HellermannTyton to offer a full end to end ‘last mile’ fibre solution providing installers, engineers and network designers with a one- stop-shop of products for every step of the fibre network. There are 3 new MDU enclosures in the series, the MDU – S5 is the larger enclosure presenting up to 96 connectorised fibres or 432 fibre splices. The MDU – S5 provides a a wide range of options in fibre connectivity and distribution. HellermannTyton is launching a new
number of options, giving the installer total flexibility. The smaller MDU – S3, offers up to 96 fibre splices and is built with a loop storage basket option. Finally, the MDU S1 can be pole, facade or wall mounted with 8 connectorised fibre drops, making it perfect for the smaller building. All our MDU enclosures are stylish, compact and come with an IP54 rating. Another new product introduced to the FTTX
range is the Customer Connection Enclosure (CCE), this product has been designed to give the installer added flexibility at the property stage of the network, offering quick connectivity and up to 50m of fibre storage. HellermannTyton provides a complete end to end range of Fibre to the X (FTTX) solutions, delivering fibre from the Point of Presence (PoP) to the building and through to the customer termination point.
Two new robotic fibre switches from Wave2Wave
Physical layer automation specialist Wave2Wave Solution has introduced two new products in its ROME family of robotic fibre switches, the ROME 64Q and 128Q. The two new products provide direct MPO patch panel interfaces, incorporating eight fibre any-to-any connections, to support the growing number of high-speed fibre links in datacentres. Wave2Wave says Multiple-Fibre Push-On/Pull-off (MPO) connectivity is playing an important role in datacentres as a means to deploy higher speed interfaces cost effectively. Driven by increasing bandwidth demands, a growing number of datacentre operators are moving to 40 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Because each MPO port simultaneously connects 8 fibres this approach delivers an effective way to easily connect QSFP+ transceivers that are delivering these high-speed connections. The ROME 64Q has 64 MPO ports with each port connecting 8 fibres (a total of 512 fibre connections) and the ROME 128Q has 128 MPO ports (a total of 1,024 fibre connections) in an any-to-any configuration. “We are seeing increased use of high-density cabling in datacentres,”
said David Wang, President and CEO, Wave2Wave Solution. “Space in datacentres is already tight and MPO cabling provides a cost-effective way to deliver higher speed connectivity. The ROME 64Q and 128Q have been designed to support this need, and bring the benefits of physical layer automation to MPO configured datacentre networks.” Wave2Wave explains that robotic fibre switches at the optical layer automate the process of configuring and reconfiguring physical optical connections. This removes the need for manual intervention, so the way the physical network is configured is completely changed with the robots able to make a connection in seconds.
