With the amount of oil that will be produced from shale and tight-sand deposits in the coming years, our country’s refiners will find ways to monetize these resources. The most immediate opportunity will be exporting light sweet crude oil to refineries in Mexico, Canada, and other countries around the world to meet local demand. The rise in demand for gasoline in places like China and India will boost U.S. exports in the coming years because the light sweet crude oil found in our country is perfect for this use.
