THOUGHT LEADERSHIP | 53

ough the storm

even during the hardest times. That doesn’t mean the journey has been easy. Even now, it can feel like two steps forward and one step back. There are still challenges, moments of doubt and days when everything feels harder than it should. But I keep going, because I know what can be achieved. I know the value I can bring to my clients, and that belief drives me forward. Building a business can also be incredibly isolating. Long hours, constant decisions and the pressure of responsibility can feel overwhelming. That’s why connection has been so important. Attending events, including those run by organisations like the CIPP and the Association of Bureau Management, helped me feel less alone. Being around people who understand the journey, and who are building and growing their own businesses has made a real difference. It’s given me perspective, support and reassurance. Those experiences have also shaped how I run Amesto Payroll UK today. Client service isn’t just part of what we do, it’s the foundation of everything we do. We aren’t here to simply process payroll. We’re here to support businesses, to understand

their challenges and to be a partner they can rely on. Behind every payroll, there are people. People managing businesses, teams, pressures and responsibilities. That’s why we focus on being responsive, personal and human in everything we do. That’s what sets us apart from the crowd. Looking back, there’s something else I’ve learned I feel strongly about. So many people are afraid to take the next step. They stay in roles that feel safe, even when they know they want something more. They wait for the perfect time, the perfect conditions, the perfect moment. But the truth is, that moment rarely comes. There’ll always be something happening. There’ll always be uncertainty. There’ll always be a reason to wait. If I’d waited for everything to feel right, I would never have started. That doesn’t mean you take unnecessary risks, but it does mean trusting yourself enough to move forward, even when you don’t have all the answers. Start before you feel ready. Accept that it won’t be perfect. Surround yourself with the right people. And most importantly, don’t let

fear hold you back. Because on the other side of that decision is growth, strength and something that’s truly yours. Now, for the first time, life is beginning to settle. I’m only just starting to reflect on everything that’s happened and everything it’s taken to get here. There’s still so much ahead, so much to build and so much to achieve. But one thing I know for certain is that I haven’t done this alone. Alongside the support of my business partner, I’ve been surrounded by incredible people. Friends and former colleagues, who’ve become friends, who believed in me, supported me and stood by me through one of the most challenging periods of my life. I couldn’t have got through the last 12 to 18 months without them. So, this is also an opportunity to say thank you. Thank you for your belief, the encouragement and the support. With that support, and everything I’ve built with Amesto Payroll UK, I feel ready for what comes next. Sometimes, the journey isn’t smooth. Sometimes it’s messy, uncertain and challenging. But sometimes, you just keep going. And that’s where everything changes.
