3 STEPS TO CHOOSING YOUR TRIO COLOUR SCHEME

Choose the colour for your exterior walls from the largest colour chip.

As a general rule, the lightest tint in a trio can highlight decorative details like window reveals and quoin stones.

The deepest shade is the most practical for the plinth and sills and also helps ground the scheme.

KEY TIPS FOR SELECTING YOUR MAIN COLOUR

Homes with natural stone or timber windows can take warm contemporary colours that are greyed off and have a green undertone.

Earthy colours with a warm or yellow undertone work beautifully with traditional houses in natural stone while neutral tones with low contrast elongate bungalows.

Modern homes with black, grey or white window frames or built with limestone are ideal for cool neutrals that sit between blue and grey.

STEP 1 Sand the door to create a rough surface. Use a filler to repair any noticeable damage. Make sure the surface is dry and clean before you begin painting.

STEP 2 Remove any door

accessories and use masking tape to cover any permanent elements.

STEP 3 Apply one coat of Dulux Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior Flexible Undercoat for excellent coverage and opacity using an acrylic bristle brush. STEP 4 For a gloss finish, choose Dulux Weathershield Quick Dry Exterior High Gloss; a water based product which is low odour, acrylic based and better for the environment. STEP 5 Finish by applying two coats of your preferred top coat in your chosen colour. Leave to dry for 4 hours before you apply the second coat.

HOW TO PAINT A CIRCLE

STEP 1 To get started, clean your walls and treat any patches of mould. Weathershield Multi-Surface Fungicidal Wash is perfect for this job.

STEP 2 Use Weathershield Smooth Masonry as your base paint to protect your wall against all elements of Irish weather. STEP 4 Next fill your circle with your chosen colour, it can be bright and contrasting, or more muted. Carraig Grey with Achill White works beautifully.

STEP 3 Now you will need to create a circle on your wall. It’s easy - just cut a string to the length of half your circle, pin it to the wall at the centre of your circle and draw your line. Use chalk to draw the circle, especially on uneven walls.
