January Check your tools and equipment are all clean and sharpened ready for the year ahead Make repairs to fencing or loose paving Clear and tidy your greenhouse or shed

Order your summer bulbs such as lilies and gladioli Continue to cut down your perennials and plant new one’s
Clean and tidy patios and decking using a Blower/Vac and pressure washer
First cut of the year is 28th March
Sow annuals for early flowers
Make sure you cut on highest setting to avoid damage
Start to prune roses
Hoe your soil and remove weeds
Cut your hedges - remember to avoid March - August, the peak season for nesting birds
Cut down any perennials
Sow seeds ready for the summer monthson your lawn
Plant your Christmas tree outside
Give your hedges the first cut of the year

Plant your pots for late summer display
Order spring bulbs and annual seeds Pot biennials and remove annuals such as sweet peas
Plan where to plant next year’s bulbs
Cut back & remove dead plants Remove early autumn leaves from your garden using a Blower/Vac Cut your lawn once a week Scarify and aerate your lawn Sow new grass seed Insulate any outside pipes & taps Remove all summer fruit from trees
