D uring our recent visit to Altfield Hong Kong, we had the pleasure of hosting an educational presentation about leather for students from Hong Kong’s Insight School of Interior Design. Founded by Parisian interior designer and art historian Eve Mercier, Insight offers its students hands-on experience and real world exposure to all aspects of interior design so that they are equipped with creativity, practicality and all of the necessary tools to succeed in Asia’s discerning design market. Courses focus on artisan insight, craftsmanship excellence and knowledge sharing via atelier visits, craftsmanship lectures and skills demonstration. During the presentation, we gave the students a general overview about leather and the leather industry and then dived down into an interactive discussion about our portfolio and the different types of leather we offer. Although all of the information generated a lively dialogue, the students (and Altfield staff) especially appreciated the Types of Leather and Wood Grain Comparison reference tools Whitney created to assist in our leather education initiative.

M oore & Giles and Altfield HK recently welcomed some of our best clients in the territory to the China Club, a stylishly swanky members-only club located on the top three floors of the old Bank of China building in Hong Kong. Featuring an abundant assortment of contemporary Chinese art and a lush library overflowing with books on China and Chinese culture, it exudes an eclectic, 1930’s Shanghai tea house vibe that is complemented by a culture of service that considers entertaining to be an art. While enjoying Hong Kong’s dramatic skyline from the club’s patio, we toasted the people and projects that have built up our brand in the territory and beyond before moving inside to enjoy the chef’s superb Cantonese cuisine. – –
