Disqualifying and Reviewable Offenses
Felony Convictions Felony convictions generally lead to license denial, with limited exceptions for certain cannabis-related offenses under current California law.
Misdemeanor Convictions Misdemeanors involving dishonesty or moral turpitude within 10 years can result in denial, unless expunged. This applies to both in-state and out-of-state convictions.
Application Dishonesty Deliberate misstatements or omissions on the license application regarding criminal background are automatic grounds for disqualification. Full disclosure is required.
Additionally, tribal gaming agencies consider prior activities, reputation, and associations to assess potential risks to gaming integrity, public interest, or fair practices. Violations of gaming regulations or behavior risking patron/employee safety can lead to exclusion and license denial.
