The Story So Far... The Management Recruitment Group was launched in 2007 in Twickenham, London, by CEO and founder Simon Cheshire. Focusing on senior appointments in the Rail, Mobility and built environment, Simon wanted to create a service which was of a high level, working closely with clients to really understand the business and culture in order to make the best senior appointments. With a highly successful track record, MRG quickly went on to open offices in London Bridge and Manchester, widening their reach to the North of England. Entrepreneur and recruitment business owner Olly Plitz started his own business in the UAE 14 years ago, and has been operational in KL for over 10 years, launching his own company PPA Global Search in 2018. MRG were suitably impressed with Olly’s reputation in Kuala Lumpur and were delighted at the opportunity to work alongside him, expanding their remit into the Asian market.

We undertake detailed candidate assessments and analysis using a range of MRG’s own tools, bespoke assessments and third-party products. Focusing on behaviours, intelligence and competencies. Our Approach to Candidate Assessment & Analysis

Intelligence – We utilise TEIQue Emotional Intelligence reporting as a tool when dealing with people-oriented appointments. Developing these skills is critical in the workplace, with strong emotional intelligence being linked to high performance. Understanding how candidates manage their own emotions and those of others, and how they may respond to stress or change, is a valuable insight for anyone looking to make a strategic hire.

Candidate assessment and analysis is essential in ensuring that the very highest calibre of candidates are taken forward to interview stage and reduce unconscious bias. MRG’s aim is to make our process based on data and evidence. It’s to assess the whole range of candidates’ abilities, looking beyond the CV and years of prior experience. We make decisions based on three areas of candidate assessment – Behaviours, Intelligence and Competencies/ Experiences.

Competency Based Assessment – Using MRG’s bespoke Weighted Selection Matrix drives decisions to be made based on evidence and data, rather than gut feeling and assumption. Each role is broken down into agreed weighted competencies which candidates are assesses against, with supporting evidence given and clear, precise information provided. The Selection Matrix ensures that selection is both robust and auditable and provides the client with a tool to compare and contrast candidate’s skills, measuring those skills not only against the experience criteria, but against the skills and experience of other candidates.

Behaviours – PPA is a personality test which enables employers to evaluate a candidates' character traits in a more in-depth way to determine whether they will be a suitable fit for a role as well as how they prefer to communicate with others.

Simon Cheshire, CEO of MRG Holdings Ltd.

Olly has historically worked with local and international businesses across Asia, specializing in Mobility and Rail, identifying and where appropriate relocating, senior executives from around the world into new senior management appointments in Asia and the Middle East. Having worked in recruitment for 24 years, he has been based from Kuala Lumpur for the last 10 years, Olly brings to the company a wealth of knowledge in the global rail markets and its clients, candidates and projects.

Simon has worked in specialist management recruitment since 1986. He has previously held senior roles within an international recruitment consultancy, running and developing large scale recruitment operations in the UK, Australia and Europe, as well as starting up green field sites.

He has extensive experience in search at Director level, multiple hire campaigns, international resourcing campaigns and outsourcing.

Christopher is a senior talent acquisition professional with thorough knowledge and experience of managing and delivering end to end staffing solutions in Asia Pacific and across the world. Chris’s industry experience is within the construction, real estate development and energy & engineering industries. He has vast experience with Retained search, Executive Search, Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) & Project based Recruitment Campaigns. He is originally from Scotland but has resided in Malaysia for 11 years resulting in having an extensive network and knowledge of the Talent Market in Asia.

Matthew joined MRG in 2013 as business sector director, and heads up the Real Estate Advisory team in London, working with a number of organisations to make key strategic hires across the property industry. Matthew has successfully led the global expansion of MRG, and is responsible for launching the MRGPA brand. Matthew has been a Board Director since 2017 and is a trained expert in the use of Thomas International, and their Psychometric Assessment Tools.
