something unique and challenging, which somehow led him to a Morris Eight Series E. I’ve seen a stock Morris Eight and ugly isn’t something we call cars, but she isn’t pretty, flowing, sophisticated or anything else good other than dorky times ten. Ultimately, John ended up going over the pond to British Racing Green and had the stocker shipped to his home in Delaware. John had big plans for his ’39 Morris Eight Series E and he knew he needed a great chassis to make everything fit and have a street rod that was road ready. John started by making a bunch of drawings and ultimately turned over the whole project to FatMan Fabrications who built a tube frame for the
Morris. The front suspension is a FatMan Mustang II- styled unit with tubular A-arms, Shockwaves, power rack and pinion steering, and third-gen Camaro front discs. The rear suspension is a Ford 9-inch sitting on another set of Shockwaves, held in place with a tri- angulated four-bar, and the rear discs are from a third-gen Camaro. There isn’t a lot of room in the original 61ci engine bay, but FatMan and John fig- ured out how to stuff in a supercharged Pontiac 3800 (basically an Eaton blown Buick 231ci V-6) run- ning an NIC roller cam, a ZZ Performance-built super- charger system, and all backed up with a 4L60E automatic overdrive. The chassis is finished off with 17/20-inch 3030 Autosport wheels. DECEMBER 2024 27
