OGC Level 1 Training Handbook-RU v1

Step 6. Adjust for any measured amount of S&W, by multiplying the GSV by the CSW. Step 7. If weight is required, multiply the result from 6 by the appropriate weight conversion factor. The mathematical formulae for the various required values can be expressed as follows: GSV = {[(TOV - FW) x CTSh] ± FRA} x CTL NSV = {[(TOV - FW) x CTSh] ± FRA} x CTL x CSW WEIGHT = {[(TOV - FW) x CTSh] ± FRA} x CTL x CSW x WCF Chain calculations must be performed. Only the final result in the calculation is rounded. If it is necessary to report any intermediate values, the figure should be rounded as required; however, the rounded figure is not to be inserted into the calculation sequence.

8.10.1 Weight Conversion Factor (WCF) Density, Weight, and Volume Intraconversion is covered by API MPMS Chapter 11 Section 5. This Chapter is published in 3 parts: 11.5 Part 1 Conversion of API Gravity @ 60 ° F, 11.5 Part 2 Conversion of Relative Density (60/60 ° F), and 11.5 Part 3 Conversions for Absolute Density at 15 ° C 8.11 Calculation Sequence Volume Based Calculation Procedure the calculation sequence follows that of the preceding sections, the flow is:

TOV → GOV → GSV → NSV → WEIGHT

Step 1. With the liquid level or gauge, enter the capacity table and record the Total Observed Volume, as recorded in the table. Step 2. Subtract any gauged free water volumes. Step 3. Apply the correction for temperature of the tank shell (CTSh) to arrive at the GOV. Step 4. Correct this quantity for any applicable floating roof adjustment.
