MEET OUR SOLDIERS

Ori Asulin - 22 Years Old

Ori served as a commander in the Golani Brigade. On October 7th, at the Nahal Oz military post, he woke to sirens and a wave of trucks and motorcycles breaching the Gaza fence. Confronting two terrorists, Ori neutralized them but was shot in the leg. Adrenaline masked the pain as he sought refuge in a bomb shelter, where he found two friends critically injured. Over three agonizing hours, he watched them succumb to their wounds beside him.

When a grenade was thrown into the shelter, Ori braced for death, reciting “Shema Yisrael.” Miraculously, he survived. Emerging to a scene of devastation—flaming tanks and fallen comrades—Ori ran to the tank for weapons, only to find them taken by terrorists. Without ambulances or secure transport, Ori was evacuated to the hospital in Be’er Sheva in the trunk of a civilian car. Since then, he has undergone extensive physical and psychological rehabilitation. With Brothers for Life, Ori has found purpose again, joining a delegation to Melbourne and now visiting newly injured soldiers, offering hope and support as part of the BFL hospital team.

Liron Albilya - 36 Years Old

Liron served in the Gaza undercover unit for 14 years as a combat soldier, sniper, and anti-terror trainer. He participated in hundreds of classified operations, earning the President’s Award of Merit. However, the intense demands of his service left him with severe PTSD and arthritis. Through Brothers for Life, Liron found support to heal and reintegrate into family life and society.

On October 7th, despite his injuries, Liron didn’t hesitate to rejoin his unit, leaving behind his wife and three young daughters. For over 100 days, he fought in Gaza, including in Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Al Shifa Hospital in Rimal. His unit faced heavy losses, with 18 teammates injured and one killed. Reflecting on his decision, Liron shared, “ On that horrible Shabbat morning, I couldn’t stay home. My entire body and soul told me to go south and fight. My wife didn’t try to stop me .” Liron’s courage and unwavering sense of duty continue to inspire those around him

WHO WE ARE

BFL CHANGING LIVES

Brothers for Life (“BFL”) is a non-profit organization created and run by wounded IDF officers. It is based on the unique model of “Injured soldiers helping newly injured soldiers.”

Before October 7th, 2023, BFL actively served 1,300 injured soldiers. Since the war began, over 5,700 IDF soldiers have been injured – nearly 2,400 of them moderately to severely. BFL’s hospital visitation teams, where we match the injuries of veteran soldiers to those of the newly injured, have routinely visited the most severely wounded combat soldiers. As we confront the long-term impacts of this war, BFL is preparing to rapidly and strategically expand operations and programs to accommodate the influx in need.

OUR MISSION

WHAT WE DO

BFL soldier-mentors volunteer on hospital visitation teams

• Deploy veteran-mentor visitation teams to hospitals immediately when an IDF veteran is injured, connecting them to BFL, assessing their needs, and beginning the mentorship process. • Provide critical medical care to severely wounded and chronically suffering soldiers, including second-opinion consultations, cutting-edge medical devices, and surgeries by top U.S. surgeons.

To empower injured combat soldiers to reclaim their lives, fufill their dreams, and continue to serve and inspire the Jewish Nation.

Intake visits with newly injured soldiers

• Support soldiers living with PTSD through counseling and soldier-led mental health and wellness programs.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

• Offer educational scholarships, vocational training, internships, and job placement services to help veterans build their futures. • Provide comprehensive financial support, including direct aid, financial counseling, and access to an interest-free loan fund.

Brothers for Life is seeking partners to provide immediate care, mentorship, and long-term support to newly injured combat soldiers who sacrificed their well-being to protect the Jewish people.

• Implement over 35 soldier-led programs alongside events and activities for veteran families.

It costs just $7,500 a year to help one soldier rebuild his or her life. Your support can honor their sacrifice and make a lasting impact. Join us in this vital mission.
