The 2026 Jeep Cherokee The Cherokee returns with hybrid power and an entirely new design
The Jeep Cherokee is back for 2026, but this is not simply a refreshed version of the previous model. After sitting out the 2024 and 2025 model years, the Cherokee returns with an all-new design, a hybrid-only powertrain and standard all-wheel drive. For East Bay drivers, the redesigned Cherokee brings a useful mix of efficiency, technology and versatility to a segment crowded with compact and midsize SUVs. A SIGNIFICANT REDESIGN The 2026 Cherokee has been redesigned from the ground up. Its longer, more upright body gives it a more substantial presence, while traditional Jeep styling elements connect the new model with the brand's familiar design language. The arrangement gives the Cherokee a combination of gasoline-engine range and electric assistance without requiring an external charging connection. FUEL ECONOMY TAKES A STEP FORWARD The EPA estimates 39 mpg in city driving, 35 mpg on the highway and 37 mpg combined. Jeep says the Cherokee can travel more than 500 miles on a tank of fuel. Those numbers give the new Cherokee a strong efficiency story, particularly when compared with the previous generation. For East Bay residents who regularly travel outside the area, the combination of fuel economy and long estimated range can be useful on longer road trips as well as everyday driving. TECHNOLOGY AT THE CENTER The new cabin puts considerable emphasis on connectivity. A 12.3-inch Uconnect touchscreen and 10.25-inch digital instrument display are standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard driver-assistance technology includes features such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection and Active Driving Assist.
