TRANSFORM YOUR HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS WITH EXPERT PAINTING SERVICES!
You’ve probably already started decorating for fall, lighting candles, and maybe even warming up your fireplace. As winter approaches, we spend most of our time inside, cozying up with our loved ones as we cherish the holiday season — which likely explains why winter marks our slowest season here at Huskey’s Paint & Design! The spring and summer days of lounging by your backyard pool or sitting on your porch are long gone. Yet, just because you’re spending more time indoors doesn’t mean there’s no painting left to do. In fact, as you start your holiday celebrations with guests pouring in, your interior may need an upgrade. “Since the season is slower for us, we offer a discount for interior services! Every winter, I cut our prices by 10% for anyone wanting us to revamp their interior.” Unlike full-blown renovations, a simple, fresh paint job can leave your room looking brand-new with less effort, time, and money. The last thing you want during the holiday season is an endless stream of workers coming in and out of your home and remodeling your living space. Painting your interiors is much less invasive and can be finished faster than you think! The Huskey team can paint any surface, remove wallpaper, and even color-match the perfect shade you want to revive in your home. All it takes is a new color or layer of paint to enhance an entire room. For the holidays, ensure your home is the best it can be for your family and guests, and we can help you make that happen. When it comes to interiors, we offer a variety of services: • Color matching • Color correction • Renewing interiors • Drywall painting • Plaster painting • Wood staining • Wallpaper removal • Staining
Since the season is slower for us, we offer a discount for interior services! Every winter, I cut our prices by 10% for anyone wanting us to revamp their interior. The discount is only valid from December through February, so take advantage of this deal while you can. I always want to make sure I’m taking care of my team and my clients. As it gets too cold for my guys to paint outside and business starts slowing down, this discount is my way of ensuring they get enough work in their schedule. For my clients, it’s a way to offer our expert painting services at a discounted price during the season you need us most. Drywall, wood, plaster, or whatever surface you need painted or stained, we can do it! No matter what time of year, our team will always be ready to help you brighten your home. If you would like a free estimate, call our team at 828-214-7100. We’ll gladly offer more information about our services and winter discount! — Trent Huskey

SAY GOODBYE TO CHRONIC CLUTTER — USE THE CORE 4 METHOD TO TRANSFORM YOUR HOME!
If you’ve attempted Marie Kondo’s famous “spark joy” approach to decluttering but still have too much stuff, you might want to try the CORE 4 Method designed by professional organizer Kayleen Kelly. Kelly specializes in tackling “chronic clutter” and designs her techniques to work for everyone , including people who are neurodivergent. Her CORE 4 Method has earned her millions of online fans because it includes just four steps anyone can follow to purge clutter! Here’s how it works. Step 1: Clear Out — First, choose one room of your home to work on. Then, grab a trash bag and several sturdy boxes. Use the bag to collect trash like food wrappers or broken items you never got around to repairing. Then, look for things that belong in other rooms of your home and toss them into the boxes, using a different box for each room. If you’re working in your office, for example, move extra sweaters to your bedroom box and the spare hammer to your garage box.
Then, put the boxes in their corresponding rooms to deal with later. Step 2: Categorize — Sort everything left in your room into categories. In your bedroom, you might have one pile for clothes, one for shoes, and another for hobby items. Step 3: Cut Out — Assess the storage in your room and use that space to calculate
how many items you can keep from each category. For example, if you have a category of books, figure out how many will fit on your bookshelf. That’s how many books you can keep! Then, choose a category and go through it item by item. Kelly recommends using the “3 Second Rule”: Give yourself three seconds to decide if each item is a “Yes’’ or a “No,” and consider anything you hesitate on a “Yes.” Repeat this cycle until you have the right number of items in each category. Step 4: Contain — Stash each category of items in its designated storage space. Kelly suggests keeping “like” items together and ensuring your regularly used things are easy to access. These four steps can help you tackle even the most cluttered spaces. With help from a few friends, you can organize an entire room in a single day!

Climb Aboard the Polar Express — Bryson City You’ve likely already been aboard the Smoky Mountains Railroad, but have you experienced the unforgettable Polar Express passage? The famous train transforms into the North Pole-bound Polar Express every November, where families can hop aboard in their pajamas and experience the magic of “The Polar Express” film and book. The hour and 20-minute round-trip excursion includes a read-along of the 1985 book by Chris Van Allsburg, music from the movie, hot cocoa, tasty treats, Christmas carol singing, and a gift from Santa! While it may seem a little early to get into the Christmas spirit, there’s too much cheer and excitement around not to give in. We hope you can experience some wintertime magic this season, whether in a horse-drawn carriage or aboard the Polar Express!
Starting mid-November and continuing through New Year’s Day, Hendersonville’s Home for the Holidays ensures the main street is fully decked out in lights and Christmas decor. Of course, the atmosphere wouldn’t be complete without horse-drawn carriages, parades, performances, and visits from Mr. Claus himself! The street bustles with energy on the day after Thanksgiving as everyone can watch Santa lighting the town’s 30-foot-tall Christmas tree. On the night of the tree lighting, enjoy live music and much more. It will be a night to remember!

THE SCIENCE BEHIND WHY DOGS AND HUMANS CAN’T RESIST LEAF PILES
Whether it’s your boisterous toddler or rowdy pup, a perfect pile of autumn leaves might be too good to resist! You probably remember the days when you also jumped into a crunchy orange leaf pile without a second thought. But why do humans and dogs love jumping into huge piles of leaves?
digging in to rest in the cool leaves or demolishing the pile entirely, your dog is just doing what dogs have always done. Irresistible Seasonal Scents Our sense of smell doesn’t even come close to dogs’ incredible scent skills. While we have 5 million scent receptors, dogs have anywhere between 125–300 million! This means they can smell countless other scents we can’t, and autumn may bring some exciting aromas your dog hasn’t experienced in a while. The result? They’ll dive right into a leaf pile and get sniffing! Marking Territory Another scent factor could be your dog wanting to claim a particular leaf pile. We already know dogs use their scents to mark territory, and rolling in a beloved pile of leaves is a way to infuse their scent. After diving head first into some leaves, they leave their scent behind so other animals can smell them and know that the leaf pile has already been claimed! Whatever the case, jumping into a pile of leaves is completely normal — and fun! — for both humans and dogs.
The main (and most obvious answer) is because it’s fun! For kids, dogs, and even some adults, jumping and rolling around in the fall leaves is a satisfying form of play that releases energy. While this may be the simple reason for humans, there are a few more reasons your canine companion can’t resist a tower of leaves. Instinct to Dig Digging is a dog’s favorite pastime that dates back to their wolf ancestors. Just as natural as sniffing and barking, digging is an ingrained behavior for dogs, and they want to follow their instincts the moment they see a leaf pile. Whether they’re
