Media Policy Reminder for All Hope Staff and Volunteers  Due to the sensitive nature of our work and strict privacy standards required for the healthcare industry, it’s  important to remember Hope’s policy on interacting with members of the media – whether print, television,  radio, or any other outlet.   To ensure the dignity and the privacy of all of the people and families in our care, Hope staff and volunteers are  not permitted to speak to the media. This important guideline allows Hope to provide our community with a  simple, unified message for all matters – whether related to patient care, administrative and marketing  functions, or for any reason that Hope may be featured in the news.  Question: What should I do if I’m approached by a member of the media?  Regardless of whether you are contacted in person, by phone, or in writing, do not respond directly to questions  from media representatives. Politely inform them of Hope’s Media Policy. Offer to provide their contact details  to the appropriate Hope staff person, so that we may provide official statements, remarks, or replies.  Chief of Mission Support  Amy Objartel  Amy.Objartel@HopeHCS.org  (239) 985‐7726  Executive Assistant  Cindy McKay  Cindy.McKay@HopeHCS.org  (239) 489‐9157  Question: What should I do if photographers or news crews are on a Hope campus?  Please notify Hope’s designated representatives (above) immediately in the event that any news outlet is  present at one of our locations.   Politely inform the media professionals that in order to respect the privacy of those in our care, we do not  allowing filming, photography, audio recordings, or any other audio‐visual documentation to take place on our  campus without the written consent of our Executive Team and Board of Directors.   In the unusual event that they do not comply with your request, please alert campus security.   You may also offer to share their contact details (ex: from a business card) with Hope’s designated  representatives, so that we can quickly respond to their needs.   Question: Can they film Hope from public property, i.e. by the side of the road?  Yes, the media are allowed to occupy public property. Please take their contact details if possible, and alert  Hope’s designated representatives.  Thank you for your help in complying with Hope’s Media Policy!
