The Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast

Merchant:

James Waverly. Yes, I know him well. He is the richest man in the kingdom and an honorable one, too. I have come to seek the hand of your eldest daughter, Charlotte. I find her to be beautiful and I would endeavor to bring her the utmost happiness. What say you, Charlotte? The richest man in the kingdom wants your hand in marriage. Are you a Duke? No. Are you an Earl? No, I am not a nobleman. I am the son of a merchant. A very wealthy merchant. A merchant?! Yuck! I will never marry a merchant, no matter how rich he is. Now leave my sight! How rude! (to the merchant) I am hoping that your younger daughter Henrietta may have a better opinion of merchants for I very much hope that she will become my bride.
