The Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast

Belle:

That is not true. I grieve the loss of our fortune, but crying about it will not make things better. I must try to make myself happy with the way things are now. (sarcastically) Oh Belle! You’re so good- hearted. Can I be just like you? Honestly, you’re such a goody-two-shoes. You make me sick! The family had lived about a year in poverty, when a messenger arrived. Me, again! (stops to look around) Wow! This place is a dump . What news do you have for us now , Messenger? Please make it good news for a change. It can hardly be bad news —-we have nothing left to lose! It is good news. (to the Merchant) My dear sir, a vessel has landed with a good deal of your property from overseas. It is in port and you are to fetch it and do what you like with your goods. It won’t make you rich , but it will give you a little extra money.
