Beauty and the Beast
Merchant:
Please forgive me! I was just picking a rose for one of my daughters. You have daughters? Yes, three of them, each one more beautiful than the next. I see... I will forgive you, on one condition. Name it! You must send me one of your daughters. But she must come willingly , and die in your stead. That’s the only way I’ll let you out of here alive. And if I leave and never send you one of my daughters? Then, I will come for you . Gulp. Will you do it or will you die now? (to the Beast) I will do it. (aside) No, I won’t do it. I’d never ask one of my daughters to die for me——but at least this way I can get back to my children and say goodbye to them before the Beast kills me. (to the Beast) Ok, well, I’ll be off, then, sir.
