PROMISE: “ I will make you 3. PATTERN: “ Follow Me." -—F. G. Huling. A Plain Question “ Art not thou also one of this Man’s disciples?” (John 18:17.) When Peter was faced with this di rect question he denied his association with Jesus. It is a fact that every crit ical occurrence in our history comes to a point in this question. The life of each of us, whether we are conscious of it or not, is an answer to it. There are four possible replies: 1. The Hypocrites answer “ Yes” when they ought to say “ No.” They may be loud in profession and regular in church-attendance, but in the world their lives, if not their lips, say: “ I am not.” 2. The Ungodly say “No” and say it truly. They assert: “We do not pro fess”— as if the enmity were less guilty because it is acknowledged. 3. The Cowards say “ No” when they would say “ Yes.” They act under the blind impulse of panic and yield to the fear of man. 4. The Disciples answer “ Yes” on all days, in all circumstances, and in all places— and that is Christian steadfast ness. May we all prove ourselves loyal disciples!
