THE K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S

772

At last the great day came for the bring ing of the ark back to its place, and King David was dressed in a beautiful robe of pure white, and so were the men who carried the ark, and those who were chosen to sing songs unto the Lord. As they marched along carrying the ark the people shouted for joy and trum pets were blowing and beautiful music on the harp and other musical instru ments. After marching a little distance, David offered up sacrifices unto the Lord. And then as they marched again David became so happy to know the ark was being brought back that he leaped and danced for joy. So the ark was brought back to Jerusalem and put in the place which David had made for it. Then David offered up more sacrifices of thanksgiving to God. As soon as he had done this, he blessed the people, and he gave to each one, to the women as well as to the men, a nice piece of meat, a loaf of bread, and a cake of pressed grapes. And when they had received these things, they all went home happy. Of course this was a happy time for the king and the people said, “ thank you,” to God, and we ought to remember to say “ thank you” every day, for everything we have is a gift trom God, and if we would just stop and think there are so many things we have to say “ thank you” for each day. Let us see what our mem ory verse tells us. “ It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord.” (Let the children name over some of the things, father and mother, home, health, etc.) and oh so many things we could not tell them all. My, how happy we would be if we just said thank you to God every day, for then it would be a real thanksgiving day all the time. We should always say thank you to God before we eat. Closing prayer: Our dear heavenly Father, we thank thee for giving us so many good things, and help us to always remember to say thank you.

loves us and has given us so many things for which we should thank Him, and we are going to hear about David again to day, and how he thanked God. Let us bow our heads and thank God for His goodness to us. Lesson Story: In our story to-day David whom God had chosen to be king over His people Israel, was now king over all God’s people, and the people loved their king because he was true and faithful. You see David began right as a child by trusting in God and doing the things God wished him to do, and of course he grew up to he a noble man, and God knew He could trust him. You remember when God’s people Israel took a long journey one time, God showed His presence with them in a cloud that guided them by day and a pillar of fire by night. Then when the people got to a place where they stopped for a while, God told them to build a taber nacle and He would come and dwell there. One of the things in the holiest place in the tabernacle was the ark, which was a beautiful wooden box cov ered with gold within and without, and inside of the ark were the command ments of God, and a bright light shone from the ark showing God was with His people. We remember how one time in battle the ark was carried out on to the battle field, and the enemies of God’s people captured it, hut after a time sent it back, but it was not brought to the tabernacle, but placed in a man’s house where it remained for a good many years, and was then moved to another man’s house for a short time. Where ever the ark was the home was greatly blest. When King David heard how God blessed the people in the house where the ark was, he called the priests and the special people who always took care of the ark together, and told them to get ready to bring the ark and put it in a special place which David had made for it in the city of Jerusalem.
