do in His word. When we do as He asks us to do, that shows we believe in Jesus. Now that David is king and in a place of great honor, he has not forgotten his friend Jonathan and how kind and help ful he was to David. Now Jonathan had been killed while he was a brave soldier, and had gone home to heaven, but David heard about a son of Jonathan's wno was crippled in his feet. This crippled son was just a little boy five years when his father was killed in battle, and when the sad news came, the nurse who was tak ing care of the little boy, picked him up and ran with him because she was so frightened, and the little boy fell and was hurt so badly that he was always a cripple, and at the time of our story this little boy had grown up to be a young man. When King David heard about Jonathan’s son, he sent and brought the crippled man to his own home. At first the poor man was afraid of King David, for he knew that a great many kings would kill the people who were any relation to the one who was king before them and this crippled man was a grandson to King Saul, but David told him not to be afraid for he was going to be kind to him for his rather, Jonathan’s sake, and then King Davia told him that he would give him all the land that had belonged to his grand father Saul, and King David asked some men to take care of the land for the crippled man and bring all the fruits that grew on the land to the crippled man; then he told the man that he was to live with him and eat at bis table every day, and be as one of his own sons. Do you not think that the crippled man was very happy to have such a friend as King David? Yes, and this story teaches us that we too have sick and crippled people all about us, and we cannot do as much as King -David did, but do you know there are just lots of things we can do to make them happy. Just a few days ago I saw an old man who was walking with a cane and carrying a

Approach: Have you boys and girls ever known some one that was lame in their feet, or if you do not know some one, very likely you have seen a crip pled person? You BEGINNERS know, c h i l d r e n , AND PRIMARY whenever I see a Mabel I j . Merrill crippled person, I always say “ thank you,” to Jesus for two well, strong feet to carry me about. Sometimes we forget to thank God for our blessings, because we have so much to make us happy. Can you think of a king that lived a long time ago that thanked God? Yes David. Even though David was a great king, yet he did not forget that his blessings came from God, and in our story to-day we are going to have another lovely time hearing how David showed kindness to a crippled man. Prayer. Lesson Story: Before we begin our story I want to borrow one of you boys and girls, and it must be some one who listens real well, for if you are good listeners you will hear these wonderful stories every week, and will remember them, and I want some one to tell us about two young men who were very dear friends and loved each other very much. One of the young men was the son of a king. (Review story of Jona than and David.) Boys and girls, you know it makes me very happy when you can tell these stories back to me again, for it shows you are listening when we gather together each Sunday morning and you know we want to get well ac quainted with these people we are hear ing about, for you know David and Jonathan and all the others that loved God and trusted in Him, are up in heav- and we will meet them there if we too trust in God and do what He tells us to
