Une partie de ce projet consistait à se familiariser avec le pouvoir législatif et tous les députés qui travaillent à Queen’s Park. Il a étudié dur pour apprendre les processus de la Chambre, comment les projets de loi deviennent des lois et même apprendre à connaître les 124 députés de la législature. « Il y a beaucoup de députés », a-t-il déclaré. Justin a pu rencontrer plusieurs de ces représentants, dont Stéphane Sar- razin, député de sa circonscription de
Glengarry-Prescott-Russell. « Il a vraiment pris le temps de passer du temps avec moi et a déjeuné avec moi à deux reprises, a dit Justin. Il m’a même offert un emploi d’été lorsque je serai plus âgé. J’apprécie vraiment ce que mon député a fait pour moi. » Malgré tous les cris, le programme a éveillé l’intérêt de Justin pour la politique. Il souhaite devenir page au niveau fédéral et peut-être étudier les sciences politiques à l’université. « Je tiens vraiment à remercier ma famille, a dit Justin. On ne peut être page qu’une seule fois, alors je tiens à les remercier de m’avoir soutenu et encouragé à le faire. » Pour l’instant, Justin se concentrera sur ses études primaires, jouera au hockey pour les Castors de Clarence, fera de l’ultimate frisbee, jouera au golf et s’adonnera de temps en temps à des jeux vidéo, bien sûr.
Après deux semaines de travail à l’Assemblée législative de l’Ontario à Toronto, le jeune Justin Guindon, de Hammond, se voit un avenir en politique, même après avoir vu les politiciens se chahuter dans la Chambre. « Il y a beaucoup de cris, a dit Justin. Les pages travaillent aux côtés des députés provinciaux, leur remettant des notes, des documents et, à l’occasion, un verre d’eau dans la Chambre et dans leurs bureaux. Pour participer au programme, les candidats doivent être en septième ou en huitième année, avoir une moyenne de 80 % et s’impliquer dans leur communauté. Justin a posé sa candidature au pro- gramme des pages législatifs de Queen’s Park sur un coup de tête, n’ayant que peu ou pas d’intérêt pour la politique avant de se
