Exploring Human Capabilities and Limitations

Department of Human Factors and Behavioral Neurobiology Faculty in the Department of Human Factors and Behavioral Neurobiology deliver bachelor's, master’s and doctoral degrees in Human Factors, as well as a preeminent undergraduate program in Aerospace Physiology, where they conduct ground-breaking research that often engages students in hands-on inquiries. Researchers in Human Factors Psychology study how people interact with technology and work in teams to enhance performance, minimize errors and improve safety in critical fields such as aviation, space exploration and medicine. They investigate a wide range of tools, systems and environments to better understand human capabilities and limitations, ultimately designing solutions that support effective decision making and improve overall system performance. In Aerospace Physiology, researchers investigate the effects of extreme environments on pilot and astronaut performance, including aging, perception and performance of intricate tasks. Their work aims to optimize human capabilities and ensure safety in challenging conditions.
