Bachelor of Science in Communication
The Department of Humanities and Communication focuses on helping students gain a comprehensive understanding of the real-world applications of their knowledge through collaborative experiences. Faculty in the department deliver two programs, Communication and Interdisciplinary Studies, helping students develop critical-thinking, written, oral and digital communication skills. Through exposure to the humanities, students will also gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of our highly diverse and rapidly changing society. These advanced courses allow students to connect with the full range of human experience, enabling them to see the world in different ways and graduate as well-trained professionals and well-rounded global citizens.
In the B.S. in Communication, you'll learn how to effectively communicate complex STEM concepts to public audiences. As a student, you can choose a minor that aligns with your career aspirations, including a specialized track in broadcast meteorology. With a degree in communication, you'll have a wide range of career opportunities. Beyond the aviation and aerospace sector, you might find yourself pursuing graduate or law school or embarking on careers in sports marketing, broadcast meteorology, public relations, journalism or the nonprofit sector.
Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies
The B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies is designed for those with an entrepreneurial spirit who can cross boundaries, make creative connections, be flexible in a changing career environment and become leaders in their chosen fields. As a student, you can structure this program to meet your needs to obtain the knowledge and practical experience that today’s leading employers are seeking. The program allows you to design your own course of study by choosing two to three minors, including areas of specialization like Physics, Computational Math, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems, Homeland Security, Humanities, Human Factors and Space Studies. Graduates of this program have gone on to careers in aviation and other industries, including business, law and the military.
