Department of Security Studies and International Affairs The Department of Security Studies and International Affairs offers two specialized degree programs: Homeland Security and Intelligence and Global Conflict Studies. These programs are designed to provide students with a deep understanding of contemporary security challenges, intelligence operations and global conflict dynamics. In addition to these programs, our faculty also deliver a range of history courses in service of General Education requirements, enriching students' broader educational experiences and contextualizing current security issues within historical frameworks. Our department’s expertise and comprehensive curricula prepare graduates to excel in various fields, including government agencies, international organizations and private sector security roles — equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to address complex global and domestic challenges.
PROGRAMS Bachelor of Science in Global Conflict Studies

The B.S. in Global Conflict Studies examines international instability, its causes, evolution and potential resolutions. The faculty deliver courses that focus on international relations, transnational crime, political violence, genocide, foreign policy and the histories of various regions of the world. You will be prepared for careers as analysts or policymakers in the private sector or with government agencies, such as the National Security Agency (NSA), the Central Intelligence Agency and even non-governmental organizations. Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Intelligence Envision yourself at the forefront of national security, where your insights and skills play a pivotal role in protecting your community and nation. The B.S. in Homeland Security and Intelligence focuses on foreign and domestic threats against the U.S., developing skills in critical thinking, analysis and problem solving. Professors with diverse backgrounds, including experience with the military, the law and national intelligence, address topics such as terrorism, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, corporate security, intelligence and disaster relief. Graduates enter private sector industries like Northrop Grumman, RTX Corporation and SafeAbroad, or work for local, state or federal agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration or NSA.
