A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7

This week saw the last of our visits to the Thames Young Mariners centre in Ham. These visits have been a nice way for our students to try something different and get to know each other. Well done to all those who brought in cakes for the MacMillan Coffee Morning. It was great to see so many Year 7 students contributing to this popular and hugely successful event. The Year 11 house captains were very impressed by their creativity. Our Year 7 footballers made up the entirety of the Year 7/8 team in a resounding 5-2 victory last week against Twickenham School. An impressive beginning to the season! It has been lovely to see the students excited to visit the Book Fair this week talking about the new titles and writing up wish lists particularly as they will be embarking on year group Reading Challenges soon. Each sale earns rewards for our school which allows us to buy new books for our library. Thank you for your support. 7FLE have stormed ahead in the weekly house point totals followed by 7EST and 7EDA. At time of writing, Artemis M-P in 7EST is topping the house point leaderboard in Year 7. Well done! The Year 7 chromebook programme has started and students have received their chromebooks this week. Please can parents/carers ensure that students bring their chromebook to school each day and that it is fully charged.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon The sun is also a star is told through the perspective of two teenagers whose lives cross paths and so they spend 12 fateful hours together. It explores how they struggle with parental relationships and expectations, coping with pressures of racism and immigration and the meaning of love and life. ~ Recommended by Marina M-B, Year 11 student

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed towards our Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraiser, whether that was by bringing in homemade goodies to sell or purchasing some cakes on the day. All houses did a fantastic job with their stalls, it was so lovely to see all the bright colours across the hall. We are pleased to announce that we managed to raise £1000 at our bake sale! £800 will be going to Macmillan and £200, raised by our sixth formers, will be going to the Evie Dove Foundation.
