Yet that is just what God means to af fect. “Keep thyself pure” (1 Tim. 5 :2 2 ). — 1,000 A cts and Facts, by Pickering. At Our House M ark 10:2-16 M em ory V erse: “God setteth the solitary in families” (Psa. 6 8 :6 ). A pproach: W e have found that God has given commandments which tell how we should worship Him, and other command ments which tell how we should treat the people about us. You remember we have had one command ment which tells us how we should treat the people in our home. Can you tell me what it says? Yes. “Honor thy fa ther and thy mother” (E x. 20:12). T o day we are going to talk about the com mandment w h i c h tells that a husband and wife should honor each other. Lesson S tory: Ever since the time of Adam and Eve, people have lived in fami lies. As our memory verse says, “God set teth the solitary in families.” And in God’s sight it is a very sad thing when a man and wife do not love and cherish each other. God’s Word says that a man shall “leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife.” A person needs to love another very much in order to leave home to be with that person. Our Lord Jesus Christ loved us with a very great love when He left His heavenly Father and His heavenly home to come to earth to live and to die for our sins. He. did this so that those who believe on Him might have everlasting life. Do you know what Jesus called the peo ple who believe on Him? He called them His bride. He meant that just as a bride leaves the home of her father and mother to go into the new home which her husband has prepared for her, so people who believe on Jesus will leave this earthly home to go to that beautiful heavenly home which Jesus is preparing for them (John 14:1-3). Isn’t this a wonderful thing to think about? Object Lesson H e l p f u l H om es O bjects: A magnet, a large nail, a small Luke 19:1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. , 2 And, behold, there was a man named Zac cheus, which^ was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. ■4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him; for he was to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zaccheus, make haste, and come down; for to-day I must abide at thy house. 6 And he made haste, and came down, and re ceived him joyfully. 7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. 8 And Zaccheus stood, and said unto the Lord; HONESTY IN E xodus 20:15; M a tth ew 19:16 Bxodus 20:15 Thou shalt not steal.

nail, a picture of a home (preferably a stucco not unlike Oriental homes), and a picture of a church. (Mount the two pic tures on pieces of cardboard.) Lesson : These two nails are so much like two people mentioned in the Bible that I have named the large one Hannah, and the small one Samuel. Hannah was a wise mother. She believed in keeping the prom ise she made before Samuel’s birth, and to keep that promise she had to take the boy Samuel to the house of God, to serve there. Here is a picture of a house, to remind us of Hannah’s home where Samuel was bom. While Hannah did not go to a church such as we attend, this picture of a modem church will suggest to Us the house of God at Shiloh where she went to worship God. This large white magnet will remind us of the power of God. It takes hold of Han nah and carries her along. Often God’s power caused her to go from her home to the house of God to worship. How was Hannah to fulfill her promise to let Samuel serve God? •- If this large nail keeps in contact with the magnet, it can pick up the little nail easily and can carry it from the home on one end of the table to the church on the other end of the table. But supposing the large nail does not keep in contact with the magnet, what will happen? Let us see. Now it cannot lift the small nail. Hannah realized that if she was to be a good mother, to keep her promise, and to do the very best for Samuel, she must keep in touch constantly with the power of God. She did this, and Samuel became one of the greatest leaders in Israel. If, like Hannah, parents today would keep in touch with God and would lead their children to the house of God, they would be much happier and would make their children happy and useful. Boys and girls, too, who keep in touch with God will be used by Him in bringing others to the house of God. Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. , ^ And Jesus^ said unto him, This day is salva tion come to this house, forasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. 45 And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought; • Saying unto them, It is written, My house 18 ,c. " ouse prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. Lesson T ext: Ex. 20:15; Lk. 19:1-10, 45, 46. G olden T ext: "Thou shalt not steal” (Ex. 20:15). D evotional R eading: Psa. 111.
