Join us to be transported to 1840 as we tour the Alexander and Elizabeth Young Log House with local historian Michael Zahs . This home is in nearly unaltered condition and is filled with fascinating period furnishings.

Time Capsule Tour: Iowa’s Historic Log Home Sunset Park (South Avenue F, Washington)

During this limited opening, learn about what it was like to live in Pre-Civil War Southeast Iowa and how these amazing historic homes were built. Zahs will also demonstrate working with logs using tools from the 1840s, including log dressing and shingle making, like he has used on his own log home builds. Enter on the east side of the park and look for the Friends Club flag. Note: This event will require walking a short distance on grass. Register by Wednesday, June 19.
