A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 13
Year 13 students are continuing to work hard in and out of lessons. I would firstly like to thank all Year 13 students who got involved in the Macmillan Coffee Morning and for financially contributing towards a really worthy cause. Secondly, after having spent 4 days in Barcelona, the Year 13 Geography students have now returned back to the UK. The purpose of their trip to Spain was to collect data as part of their NEA. They all worked tirelessly and they all now have the data they need to progress with their NEA. We cannot wait to hear from the students about their adventures abroad. As part of their enrichment lesson, we have organised speakers to attend and address our Science students as part of their curriculum support prior to university life. We would therefore encourage all students hoping to study any science related field to attend these talks. We believe these will help you gain an understanding of ethical conundrums in science and how it affects legal protocols. The next talk will take place on 4 October where Professor David Holt, Upper Warden from the Worshipful Company of Firefighters will discuss Laboratory Medicine and Drug Development. In addition to this and on the same day, another talk has been organised. Mr Tony Horrocks who is currently employed by IBM will talk to our Sixth Form students. The relevant details have already been shared with the students via their Google Classrooms. Finally, the early entry deadline for UCAS is Sunday 15 October. Students who are planning to submit their application by that deadline should by now be at the final stage of their application.

BOOK OF THE MONTH
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
This book is written from the perspective of Charlie through letter entries, following him and his friends through their challenging navigation through high school and life. It’s a moving and honest story.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed towards our Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraiser, whether that was by bringing in homemade goodies to sell or purchasing some cakes on the day. All houses did a fantastic job with their stalls, it was so lovely to see all the bright colours across the hall. We are pleased to announce that we managed to raise £1000 at our bake sale! £800 will be going to Macmillan and £200, raised by our sixth formers, will be going to the Evie Dove Foundation.
