A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 10

As we approach half term, students in Year 10 have continued working hard and studying well.

In sporting news, congratulations to Emilia T for representing the school at the Richmond Borough Cross Country event last Friday. Unfortunately, we have had this week’s swimming gala and rugby matches postponed due to the opposition pulling out. Congratulations to Anya in 10PCL on her Basketball team’s recent victory. Anya plays for the Richmond Knights Under 16 Girls team who last weekend headed to Manchester for the National Cup Finals. The team went on to win the National Cup and were the only undefeated team in the entire country! A brilliant achievement! In food lessons this week, students have been cooking up cornish pasties. Mrs Ahmed was delighted with their efforts and remarked on how the girls did a wonderful job! Earlier this week many of our Year 10 students took part in the Intermediate Maths challenge which was a big success. Well done to all who were involved. By design this is a real test, but the students enjoyed rising to the challenge. Well done to our top three tutor groups on the epraise leaderboard this week; 10PCL are leading the way with 84 points, they are followed by 10SHO and 10EAH. Well done to Mimi H and Safaa B who are both in the lead for individual points earnt this week! It is children’s mental health week and we have been using our time in tutor time to talk about mental health and what we can all do to help ourselves and others around us.

Good luck to the Year 9 and 10 cricket team who will be taking part next week in the outer borough cricket finals next week.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

The 1000 year old boy by Welford Ross

The 1000 year old boy is about Alfie Monk who is a thousand year old but his mother sadly passes away in a fire and he no longer finds the appeal in his long life. Therefore he sets out to find the answers to become an average teenager. I found it really interesting to hear about his experiences and how it shapes his personality.
