Bringing to You

The Best in Beauty

As you saw last month, we’ve welcomed two wonderful new staff members to our team. When I met Deenis and Giomar, I knew right away they were the perfect professionals to complete La Belleza experience. Nurse Giomar is a nurse practitioner who specializes in working with your hormones to get you feeling your best. Giomar has about 10 years of experience in the medical field, and she went through rigorous schooling before that, so she is highly trained and knowledgeable. Giomar is also passionate about helping you look and feel your best. We are so excited to welcome this health and beauty specialist to our team. Our new expert injector, Deenis, is a registered nurse, so she also has experience in the medical field. She loves using her skills to help clients achieve the full lips they dream of. Deenis does a beautiful job with injectables and is experienced with Botox and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). In her previous work alongside a plastic surgeon, she perfected her technique, and now she brings this skill to our clients. We eagerly welcome this knowledgeable RN to our team.

skin’s fullness and elasticity, and as you age, cell production slows. Less collagen leaves the skin looking less full and without the same vivacity it used to have. By one estimate, a newborn produces one new stem cell for every 10,000 cells, but by age 40, that production slows to one for every 40,000 cells. Our treatments address some of the changes that happen as we age by stimulating and promoting new collagen growth. PRP is used in one of the leading techniques we harness to return a youthful look to the skin. Using an advanced microneedling technique, we stimulate collagen growth by making tiny injections so miniscule that patients barely feel the prick, and thereby encourage skin cells to awaken. Microneedling allows us to do something else pretty amazing: As we perform the treatment, we can apply certain rejuvenating chemicals and vitamin C to the skin to promote additional growth and rejuvenation. This process makes the skin look cosmetically fresher. It’s a safe and effective technique that marries the best of science and beauty technology. Inside the newsletter, you can read more about PRP and the process of skin-rejuvenation. If you haven’t tried it, we think you’ll be amazed by the results. My new team members and I will be happy to help you discover what PRP is all about. Together, we’ll help you look — and feel — younger.

Together, Giomar and Deenis will provide you with La Belleza experience that you’ve fallen in love with. They will support me in the work I do as well as contribute their own cosmetic knowledge and specialized skills to our clients — all to provide you with a customized treatment plan for the look you desire.

Barre-ing It All

Burn Fat With This Ballet Workout If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming a ballerina, barre might be the perfect workout for you. With classes and studios popping up across the country, barre is trending. You don’t need the grace of a dancer to get the most out of this ballet-inspired workout. What Is It? Derived from ballet, barre focuses on flexibility, strength, and toning. Students learn common ballet poses and do low-impact movements that burn fat and strengthen the smaller muscles that are often missed in strength training and cardio routines. Routines can range from using weights to relying solely on the body, while adaptations in barre can be more complex. For example, barre high- intensity interval training (HIIT) combines the muscle-sculpting capabilities of barre with the calorie-torching efforts of HIIT. Who Should Do It? Anyone can incorporate a barre routine into their fitness regimen. However, there are some demographics that can benefit most from a barre-style workout. Because barre involves low-impact moves, it’s great for women who are pregnant, people with arthritis, and those just dipping their toes into the world of fitness. The injury risk with barre is low, and those who struggle with balance will see an improvement. Additionally, most moves within a barre routine involve progressions, so if a position becomes too strenuous, students can scale back to a lower progression. What’s the Downside? Despite barre’s ability to tone and shape with precision, there are some limits. Those looking to lose weight will not find the results they crave from barre. Likewise, if you are living with diabetes or other chronic conditions where cardiovascular workouts are ideal, barre isn’t the best choice. However, like most fitness routines, barre is a great workout to weave into your regimen. For example, rather than relying on it for weight loss, use it to boost your stability and strength for other workouts. The beauty of a barre workout is that it’s flexible. Find a routine and style that is best for you and be prepared for how amazing your muscles will feel. (Once the burn fades away, of course.)

The Rejuvenating Benefits of PRP

begin a workout program with weights: The skin is exposed to a tough surface, and it responds by naturally healing itself and becoming stronger by promoting new growth. We see this in the formation of calluses on our hands and feet. With PRP, you see the results in returned smoothness and elasticity to the skin with the use of plasma. Post-treatment, you can expect to see the softening of fine lines and wrinkles, smoother skin texture, and a reduction in the appearance of acne scars as long-term collagen growth is stimulated, When combined with LED light therapy and skin care products recommended by your esthetician, the benefits of PRP are clear to see and feel. Choose a Licensed Provider Only professionals licensed by the Cellular Medicine Association are allowed to advertise and perform this procedure, so know before you go whether your medical team is licensed to perform this effective PRP treatment. Receiving it from someone who is not licensed may not be effective and could even be dangerous. Dr. Sanchez is a licensed Vampire Facial provider under the Cellular Medicine Association. He is able to perform the Vampire Facial safely and effectively.

You’ve heard of the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment, also called the Vampire Facial at licensed medical spas like Beautique, and you’ve even seen how effective it is for many celebrities seeking rejuvenated skin. But you still haven’t tried this age-defying treatment for a few reasons: Maybe you’re not sure if it works, or you’re wondering how it works. Maybe it’s a little scary. We’re here to help you understand how this revolutionary process produces stellar results and why it’s the must-try treatment of 2019. How Does PRP Work? Plasma has been widely used in the medical field to promote healing and wound care. Now the beauty industry has discovered its benefits. PRP utilizes the healing properties of plasma to rejuvenate and restore youthful skin through the promotion of collagen growth. Using a patient’s own plasma, we are able to strengthen the skin. To begin with, we take a blood sample from the patient and place it in a centrifuge, where plasma is separated from red blood cells. The concentrated, plasma-rich sample is then injected into the patient’s skin. The treatment is fairly quick, and because we use microneedling, there is little discomfort. It even causes less trauma to the skin than other fillers. Benefits of PRP PRP calls on the skin’s natural healing response to promote collagen growth. Think about the way your hands feel several weeks after you

We Are Beautiful

Yalitza Aparicio Is an Empowering Example of Indigenous Beauty

This February, “Roma” took home a number of Oscars, and the film marked several firsts. It is the first Oscar-winning film to feature the Mixtec language and only the 11th film in a foreign language to bring home the gold statue.

to motivate and teach children when she went to a casting call for “Roma,” and Alfonso Cauron found the star he was looking for. Of the opportunity and what it means to people like her, Aparicio says, “Certain stereotypes are being broken, that only one type of person can aspire to be in a movie or on the cover of a magazine.”

Yalitza Aparicio, star of Alfonso Cuaron’s film set in ‘70s Mexico, contributed to the film’s milestones. She is the first actress of Mixtec and Triqui descent to be nominated for an Oscar. While she didn’t take home the award for best actress, her performance garnered international praise and brought attention to her indigenous roots. In December, Aparicio was featured on the cover of Vogue Mexico and Latin America. For other women with indigenous roots, the cover was an inspiration and confirmed that representation of more diverse beauty standards is desperately needed.

The cover image of Aparicio wearing Dior with her flowing, dark hair cascading behind her reached many people who haven’t seen themselves represented in magazines or movies. As one woman wrote in response to seeing the Vogue cover, “I have never seen a woman whose skin tone and ancestral DNA matches mine grace the cover of any magazine in celebration of beauty. While we exist, we are not represented.”

Aparicio echoed and celebrated this sentiment, noting that in addition to the typical standards of beauty we see in the media, “other faces of Mexico are now being recognized. It is something that makes me happy and proud of my roots. It is for hope.”

In a video for Vogue, Aparicio speaks about her family and growing up in Mexico. As a preschool teacher, she was fulfilling her dream
