BRAKE SYSTEMS Braking System Diagnosis and Repair
ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTICS CONT. Essential Skills for Electrical Diagnosis The number of components used in vehicle electronic systems today is continuously increasing, with dozens of sensors integrated into the various vehicle control systems. A thorough understanding of electrical and electronic fundamentals greatly enhances the ability for technicians to efficiently diagnose sensors and electrical faults in the modern vehicle. In this session, gain an understanding of how to test and diagnose components applied This session focuses on providing information to technicians about J2534 pass thru programming processes. Reprogramming modules on today’s vehicles can be required for a number of reasons. This course explains how to find and navigate service information websites, both aftermarket and OE, in addition to step by step processes for re-programming existing modules, as well as programming NEW modules. Vehicle Communications Network Diagnostics Vehicles have their own digital network of “languages” within the car or truck system, controlling just about everything bumper to bumper – not to mention even “talking amongst themselves” (V2V). This session provides scan tool and lab scope applications. Case studies featuring isolation tips and wiring repair round-out this all-important course for the diagnostic technician. FUEL DELIVERY DIAGNOSTICS to modern vehicle systems in this course. Introduction to J2534 Programming Active and Dynamic Fuel Management Engine Mechanical This session focuses on the operation and diagnostic procedures of Active and Dynamic Fuel Management Systems. Course content includes function and operation of variable valve timing, valve lift and cylinder deactivation systems. Additionally, this course highlights procedures and protocol for proper vehicle repairs, diagnostic procedures, service tips, and special tools.
HVAC DIAGNOSTICS HVAC – Keeping it cool
This session focuses on braking system diagnosis and covers components, operation, and proper service practices. Real world case studies will be used to address brake noise, pulsation, pad wear, fluid leaks, and concerns with power assist systems. Enhanced braking system designs and features by various
While newer and more efficient HVAC systems still operate on basic refrigeration principles, there have been changes that require a different diagnostic approach when systems do not blow as cold as they ought. This session covers these changes plus the increased use of networked modules, sharing data and commands. HYBRID/EV DIAGNOSTICS 48 Volts and Beyond - Advanced Hybrid Diagnostics This advanced session covers 48-volt and higher DC and 3-phase AC circuits utilized in all electrified vehicles. This seminar explains how they work, common failures and diagnostic tips for working on HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicles). Several case studies demonstrating real world in-bay testing will also be covered. SHOP MANAGEMENT Maximizing Shop Profitability – Parts 1 and 2 Note: Only offered at Cleveland and Lansing locations. This 2-part session targets your business for consistent success and profits by optimizing your entire customer/car visit. The session will discuss pricing for profit without pricing out of the market, surviving inflation, optimizing cash flow, reaching financial goals, turning P&L into a diagnostic tool, and why increasing margins doesn’t guarantee success. The Art of Advising with DVI Note: Only offered at Schaumburg and Milwaukee locations. In this session, we’re aiming straight to the heart of professional service advising with digital vehicle inspections (DVIs). Attendees will learn a proven process worthy of greater consistency and emerge equipped to leverage inspections in a way which ensures a win-win-win for their business, their staff, and their clients. Topics include the importance of DVIs, when and where to send them, how to ensure they are viewed, and consulting on the next visit based on the results.
manufacturers will also be covered. CHASSIS/ALIGNMENT Advanced Alignment Diagnostics
This session covers suspension and steering diagnosis due to bent parts from accidents and road hazards, vehicle modifications, tire/ wheel resizing and height issues. A review of basic alignment angles followed by thorough explanation of steering axis inclination (SAI), included angle (IA), scrub radius and toe out on turns (TOOT) will assist in utilizing the aligner as a diagnostic tool. ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTICS Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are found on most all vehicles today. Current model vehicles come standard with some type of collision avoidance or self-parking systems. In order to repair an ADAS fault or calibrate the systems, it is important to understand how all the cameras, sensors and other components operate. This session will give you a better understanding of all the components that a vehicle supporting ADAS may have, how they operate, and replacement procedures. Body Control Electronics Diagnosis While body controls on modern vehicles are complex systems, the diagnostics don’t have be complicated if fundamental electrical principles are understood. This session will focus on understanding electrical theory as it applies to automotive systems including components such as motors, solenoids, actuators, and their control circuits. Real world case studies will explore diagnosing complex systems.
