Lambeth Villager July:Aug 2025

Pipes and Drums at Ashwood Manor The sound of Scottish pipes and drums filled the air above David Street in Lambeth on June 11, as the London Police Pipes and Drums (LPP&D) band entertained on the spacious lawns of Ashwood Manor. “We really enjoyed playing for everyone. We could not have asked for better weather,” exclaimed Scott Jackson, Pipe Major. “Thank you to Breanne and Gabby of Ashwood Manor for inviting us to perform for the residents.” The LPP&D band started in 1967 as part of the Centennial celebrations and became known as the London Police Pipes and Drums in 1991. They wear the MacGregor tartan in honour of Peter MacGregor who was the first settler at the forks of the Thames River.
