HALLOWEEN
From the Board
As Thanksgiving approaches, we find ourselves reflecting on the many reasons we are grateful to be part of this remarkable community. South Hills is far more than a place to play golf, dine, or relax—it’s a place where friendships flourish, families connect, and traditions are cherished year after year. This season of gratitude offers the perfect opportunity to thank each of you for your continued support and engagement. Whether you’ve been a member for decades or have recently joined, your enthusiasm and participation are what make South Hills the warm and welcoming community we are so proud of. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Women’s Golf group for their outstanding Swing for the Cure event. Through their dedication and the generosity of our members, the event raised $18,000 in donations for the USC Norris Cancer Center. This remarkable achievement reflects the compassion and community spirit that define our club. Over the years, we’ve witnessed friendships formed on the fairways, around the courts, by the pool, and across dinner tables. These connections remind us that what truly makes South Hills special isn’t just the facilities, it’s the people who bring them to life.
As we look ahead to the holidays and the close of another memorable year, we extend our warmest wishes to you and your families for a joyful Thanksgiving. May it be filled with good health, good company, and gratitude for all the moments shared within and beyond our club.

GIVING THANKS DURING THE UPCOMING HOLIDAY SEASON
It is easy for all of us in the service industry to get swept up in the fast pace environment of the holiday season. So much so that we might overlook what all the parties and get togethers are truly about. They are about celebrating our community of like-minded individuals and families that enjoy each other’s company in a place so appropriately perfect to do so. This place is SHCC and places like this rarely exist in the world. There is no overstating how special our Club is. The biggest component of that specialness is and always has been the membership. The SHCC membership has a longstanding reputation for being very generous to the staff. Especially around the holiday season. Traditionally, your November statement includes a $100 charge that supports the employee holiday gratuity fund. These funds are paid out to the employees of every department at the employee holiday party. This week, on your 10.31.25 statement, you will see the $100 charge for the employee holiday fund. We thank you for your ongoing generosity and we look forward to continuing to serve you for years to come! MEMBERSHIP OPEN HOUSE: WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12th @ 6pm The Club is hosting a membership open house cocktail party on Wednesday, November 12th at 6pm. The open house is an opportunity for members to friends, family, and associates to see if they are interested in joining our Club.
There will be information from each service department including golf, social events, swim & dive, and social activities. There will also be tours of the Club provided by membership committee members. If you know someone that may be interested in joining SHCC, we encourage you to bring them over to the Club that night to check it out. Here is the Eventbrite registration site if you plan on bringing a prospect to the party. We hope to see you then. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/south-hills-country-club-open-house- tickets-1669835215079?aff=oddtdtcreator

MENS ECLECTIC
The month ended with the Men’s Eclectic Tournament. Over two days players attempted to put the best round together. Congratulations to all of our winners! Taking home the Low Gross over the Field with a 1 under 71 was Dennis Doyel. For the net winners, we had quite the playoff for both flights. In the first flight, we had Denis Kutepov and Brandon Botelho go into sudden death. Mr. Botelho came out on top with a birdie on the first hole. For the second flight, we have 4 players go into a playoff. Scott Easley, Stan Kojder, Mike Koh, and Mike Murphy. On the first playoff hole some great shots were hit and came down to two players making par. Those two, Kojder and Murphy, went on to the second hole. Once again, some spectacular shots were hit. Coming out victorious was Mike Murphy with a par on the second hole.

Ladies Golf Congratulations to Robin Doyel and Linda McGrath, who took home top honors in the 2025 Swing for the Cure event. This event continues to make a meaningful impact, raising $18,000 this year for breast cancer research. Well done, ladies! SWING FOR THE CURE
DERBY DAY
Derby Day brought some intense competition this year, with scores coming down to the wire. Taking home the victory were Lexington Henn, Mona Barajas, Sue Redhead, and Shellie Byrd.
The ladies wrapped up their month with a spooktacular Halloween Guest Day! With 68 participants, the competition was fierce and the costumes were creative. Congratulations to all our winners and participants on another fantastic event! LADIES HALLOWEEN GUEST DAY
From the Course
As temperatures cool and the days grow shorter, our golf course maintenance team shifts focus from the usual mowing and watering to other important projects around the property. This time of year provides a great opportunity to tackle tasks we don’t always have time for during the busy growing season. We dedicate more attention to out-of-play areas such as the slopes around the course, nearby streets, and the landscaped spaces surrounding the Clubhouse. It’s also an ideal time to address irrigation improvements—raising sprinklers, upgrading
components, and resolving any issues that require more time and precision. Leaf cleanup becomes a major focus as well, especially with the many Ash trees throughout the course keeping us busy. We also take this opportunity to raise tree canopies, which not only improves playability but also enhances irrigation efficiency during the warmer months. No matter the season, there’s always something to be done to keep South Hills Country Club in top shape.
