ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT FOR ANY SCHEDULE How Dental Monitoring Makes Invisalign More Convenient Than Ever

forgo regular visits to the orthodontist by using your phone to take pictures of your teeth during treatment. Through the Dental Monitoring Algorithm, these pictures are translated into a 3-D model of your teeth as they shift in your mouth, which I use to make sure that the treatment is going smoothly. Through these remote “checkups,” I can ensure you’re on your way to the smile you’ve always wanted without regular office visits! Now I have patients who only come in every six months or as needed, skipping the hassle of the trip while still achieving the smiles of their dreams. My goal has always been to transform my patients’ lives without disrupting their lifestyles. Dental Monitoring allows me to accommodate patients of all types, whether they feel more comfortable in the orthodontic chair or would prefer to send me a quick snapshot every month or so. Some patients live several miles away or have such busy schedules that they can’t imagine taking an hour off to get to our office. Others enjoy the warm, friendly, and professional atmosphere of Alborzi Orthodontics and want to continue to

As an orthodontist, business owner, mother, and active member of the local and global community, I know better than anyone just how busy life can get. The number of waking hours in each day barely gives us enough time to do the things we need to do, much less to take a moment for ourselves and our health. But as more people are becoming aware, our mental and physical health — including our dental and orthodontic health — are vital. To that end, I’ve always worked to stay abreast of new orthodontic technologies, strategies, and trends in my practice to ease the burden of time and money off the

wonderful patients we serve. But even as I implement these cutting-edge services, I strive to provide the same level of individual attention and continue to build genuine connections with my patients.

That’s why we at Alborzi Orthodontics use the Dental Monitoring phone app to strike that balance between convenience and exemplary care. In the midst of Invisalign treatment, Dental Monitoring allows you to

see us regularly. I’m happy to offer whichever option fits my patients’ needs. I’m eager to show them that having a beautiful smile isn’t just possible — it’s easy!

MEET DIANE

Our Incredibly Friendly Treatment Coordinator!

Diane is the treatment coordinator for the practice. This role means she serves as the liaison between Dr. Alborzi and our wonderful patients. Diane prides herself on guiding new patients toward healthy treatment options and giving them all the information they need to make an informed decision. “I love the patient contact,” she says. “Helping people determine the right treatment for them and knowing that we can really do something special is incredibly gratifying.” Diane says it’s even better when she can exceed their expectations. “We have patients who come in after being told they need extractions or surgery, and I can tell them beyond a doubt that these expensive treatments won’t be necessary.” Even though she has worked in orthodontics for close to three decades, Diane never tires of the practice. Her secret? The people she works with. “Dr. Alborzi

is just so fun, with a big heart and a great laugh,” she says. “You can hear it all over the office. I like the fact that she’s always trying to help people improve themselves, including all of us on the staff.” Outside of the office, Diane does her best to stay as active as possible, reading, cycling and spending time at the lagoon near her home in Foster City. Lately, she’s been tied up planning her wedding for August 25, when she’ll marry her fiancé, Bob, on the lagoon. But when she gets a rare window of free time, she loves to socialize with her big family and visit with her 21- and 24-year-old kids. You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who has remained dedicated to a single practice as long as Diane — a fact for which we’re incredibly grateful. Without her around the office, it simply wouldn’t be the same. We appreciate all the amazing things Diane does for our team and our patients, and we look forward to seeing her contributions in the years to come.

Every once in a while, there’s a member of your team so vital, loyal, and talented at what they do that you can’t possibly imagine the place without them. For all of us at Alborzi Orthodontics, Diane Dugoni-Descalso is one of those people. She has done everything she can for the practice ever since joining us almost 30 years ago in 1989.

Today, after transitioning to work in nearly every role in the office as needed,

THINK YOU’RE NOT A CANDIDATE FOR INVISALIGN? THINK AGAIN IT’S ABOUT THE DOCTOR, NOT THE PATIENT

When a patient considers seeking orthodontic treatment to finally achieve the straight, beautiful smile of their dreams, they often assume braces are their only option. And while the technology has come a long way in recent years, most people dread having a contraption of clearly visible and sometimes painful metal in their mouth. Still, a patient figures that if they really want to transform their smile for the long term, braces are a “necessary evil” on the path toward greater self-confidence, health, and well-being. At Alborzi Orthodontics, in addition to the most advanced braces available, we offer a pain-free, virtually invisible, and totally convenient alternative that can achieve results just as effectively: Invisalign! Chances are you’ve probably heard of Invisalign and how a set of clear, removable aligners can straighten your teeth without the need for wires or brackets. We’re guessing you’ve read about the comfort, ease, and speed of the treatment. Even with all these incredible advantages, you may wonder whether you’re a good candidate for Invisalign. Maybe another orthodontist told you that Invisalign won’t work for your particular issue, or perhaps they said that your case is just too extreme to be handled by this cutting-edge technology.

But our esteemed and experienced orthodontist Dr. Alexa Alborzi, who is ranked in the top 1 percent of Invisalign providers in the country, is here to tell you that these other “experts” are wrong. In reality, the limitations of Invisalign are not dependent on the patient or their particular orthodontic issues; they’re dependent on the skill of the doctor! An intimate knowledge of orthodontics coupled with thousands of on-the-job hours treating patients is paramount to successful Invisalign treatment. In the hands of a true professional, Invisalign is an incredibly effective and powerful tool for aligning your smile with much less time and hassle than other options. Nearly every misalignment issue can be fixed through Invisalign, no matter what you’ve been told by other offices. If you’re ready to have the smile you’ve always wanted, Dr. Alborzi is the best provider to guide you along the path to beautiful, straight teeth through Invisalign. Even if you’ve been told before that Invisalign won’t work for you, give the experts at Alborzi Orthodontics a call at (650) 300-5284 and learn what the treatment can do for you!

ROAD TRIPS DON’T HAVE TO BE PAINFUL

INCLUDE THE WHOLE FAMILY

Summer is right around the corner, which means you’ll soon pile the whole family into the car, ready to brave the road for a vacation. Everyone knows that riding in the car for hours can be torture. But with a little creativity, you can turn the worst part of a long trip into a fun event. When the excitement of the family vacation starts to wear off, keep the peace and entertain your kids with a travel game. Many board game manufacturers offer travel-sized versions that are easy to pack and play in the car. Before your next road trip, consider purchasing digital Yahtzee, which packs all the fun of the classic game without the dice, or IQ Fit, a logic game with over 100 challenges. Both games cost around $10 and can provide hours of entertainment. PACK A TRAVEL GAME

Once the travel games no longer pique anyone’s interest, try an activity that can be fun for the whole family: a traditional road trip game. If you have a car full of storytellers, try “Fortunately, Unfortunately.” The rules are simple. The first person starts by saying, “fortunately,” and mentioning something good about the road trip or the destination. The next person (moving clockwise) then follows by saying something “unfortunate” about the previous person’s statement. Take turns with every passenger in the car. If someone stumbles, they get a strike; three strikes and you’re out. The last passenger standing wins.

relax or take a nap. However, your listening material doesn’t have to be limited to Dad’s favorite music. Instead, consider listening to a family-friendly audiobook or podcast, which can make the longest and most boring parts of your trip an entertaining or educational experience. Almost any popular book is available in audio form, but it can be hard to find an enjoyable podcast. “Transistor” is a science-focused podcast that explores subjects kids and adults will find fascinating. Or if you’re looking for something fictional, try “Storynory,” in which the narrator tells fairy tales and legends from all over the globe.

We get it. Sometimes passengers don’t want to play games. Occasionally, they’d rather
