King's Business - 1948-02

Thus saith the Lord God; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought. Here Jehovah declares that Gog, the prince of Russia, will “ think an evil thought.” What is this evil thought? I believe that it will concern the absolute extirpation of the Jewish nation. “ Why,” this infidel prince will reason, “ should this outcast, despised people possess the land which has such value? Moreover, they are a continual reminder o f the fact that there is a God in heaven.” So will Gog reason with himself. Now we know that Russia is against God, His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Bible. But her program seeks not only the elimination o f the name o f God from the earth, but also the extermina tion o f those who profess to believe in Him and His Word. In the eyes of god less Russians the Jews are mainly re sponsible for the things o f God and of Christ. Did not the Jews produce the Bible? Did not the Messiah come through the nation o f Israel? Is not the concep tion o f the one living and true God a heritage o f the monotheism of the He brews? So with his mind made up as to the advantages o f attaining his pur pose, the prince o f Russia will plot his invasion of the land o f the Jews. “ To take a spoil,” therefore, he will I swoop down upon his prey. Look at j verse 12: To take a spoil, and to take a p rey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhab ited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst o f the land. “ The desolate places” shall have become inhabited, and the people that are gath ered out o f the nations shall have “ got ten cattle and goods.” The agricultural activity of the Jews who have already returned to the land is | nothing short o f amazing. All down I through the centuries they have not been an agricultural people. Often fo r many weary years they have not been long enough in one place to plant and harvest crops. Constantly wandering, they have had to turn their attention to trade and bartering. But now, as they are return ing to their beloved land, they are turn ing to the soil. With what joy they plow and harrow! With what rejoicing they reap the harvest! And what a transfor mation is even now taking place in that once desolate land! Yes, for centuries lying waste, “ the desolate places” are now being inhabited. Furthermore, this is the people which' , “ have gotten cattle and goods.” A great many reasons are advanced in answer to the question, “ Why does the world hate the Jew?” Most o f these reasons are not reasons at all. I suppose the real argument behind the anti-Semitism of th# world is that the Jew is more clever and aggressive than the Gentile. (Continued in the March Issue)
