Library Resarch Award
This year, a team of seven librarians—Wendy Kosakoff, Emily Apterbach, Stephanie Gross, Nanette Johnson, Rina Krautwirth, Sandy Moore, and Tina Weiss—evaluated 27 submissions for the annual Library Research Awards. These awards recognize outstanding student research that demonstrates excellence in the use of library resources and services. In addition to general submissions, the libraries also offer a dedicated Library Research Award for Honors Theses and Senior Projects, open to students in the Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Honors Program at Yeshiva College and the S. Daniel Abraham Honors Program at Stern College for Women.
ADEN LYONS YESHIVA COLLEGE
Our 2025 winner, Aden Lyons YC ’26, is a double major in history and political science. His paper, “The Jewish Community of Lida During the Second World War,” was written for Professor Joshua Zimmerman’s course “History of the Holocaust.” Aden’s paper prioritized firsthand accounts in a way that allowed him to recount the horrors and acts of heroism Lida’s Jews faced, which in turn impacts the reader on an emotional level.
ILAN BOCIAN YESHIVA COLLEGE
Ilan Bocian was selected as the recipient of the 2024 Library Research Award for Honors Theses & Senior Projects. His thesis, “Rabbinic Responses to the Reintegration of Anousim: An Open Halachic Question?” was recognized for its scholarly depth and effective use of library resources.
