Y ou’ve probably heard some of the famous quotes about learning. Henry Ford said, “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at 20 or 80. Anyone who keeps learning stays young”, and Einstein took it to the extreme by saying, “Once you stop learning, you start dying”! As I’ve passed the type of birthday that makes you consider your own mortality as well as your own wrinkles, I’m definitely up for something promising the elixir of youth! As tutors at the CIPP, we spend a lot of time sharing our experiences to help students. Our role is to facilitate their learning by leading them through their qualifications. It’s an immensely rewarding role which is never predictable or easy. We take part in regular training activities, but when some of us more ‘experienced’
(which apparently isn’t a euphemism for old…) tutors were offered the chance to undertake a further qualification this year, it was a great opportunity to put ourselves back in the classroom. “I have embarked on a journey of self- discovery to develop my emotional intelligence as a leader” What could we learn?
