also remember to look to the past. This inspired my approach to designing this piece, infusing it with retro, 1960s queer graphics. The swirls and shapes are reminiscent of the posters of the 1960s, when Stonewall took place, but with a vivid, graphic, queer twist to celebrate the whole LGBT+ community in all its diversity. The design reflects the energy and artistry of the queer community, rooted in our history. In history, art has not only reacted to social change, but also created social change. For example, Art Nouveau with the industrial Revolution and Psychedelic Art which followed World War 2 and the Vietnam War. Art is a reactive statement and the cover design evokes this. Setting the design against a dark background allows all of the colours of the LGBTQ+ flags to stand out vividly. This piece aims to serve as a reminder that “to look to the future we must first look back upon the past. That is where the seeds of the future were planted” - Albert Einstein.

I wanted to incorporate both the Cork Pride logo and this year’s theme as an active part of the design. “Fearless Future” reminds us that we must continue to fight for our community. In particular, the trans flag is proudly and prominently displayed as a symbol that we must stand in solidarity with the trans community, and that the rise of anti-trans rhetoric and hate speech cannot be tolerated. Trans people were at the forefront of Stonewall, and are an integral part of our LGBT+ community. The queer and artistic community have always had strong voices in creating social change. This design pays homage to the queer community, the arts community and the queer arts community- which I am proud to be part of. Hannah B Lane is a production designer and visual artist based in Cork. She has worked in theatre, film and television since 2019. BIO

The illustration I have designed for the cover of this year’s magazine is inspired by the historical roots of the first Pride movement in Stonewall; a revolution. The artwork for the cover of the 2025 Cork Pride magazine was inspired by a definitive moment of queer history; the Stonewall riots. A sense of revolution, but also celebration is pivotal in moving forward as a community, and I wanted to evoke a sense of this in my design, while considering the theme of this year’s festival “Fearless Future.”

To build towards a brighter, bolder, fearless future we must look forward but
