me to pursue my passion for GAA and expand my social circle. Queer spaces such as this are vital for ensuring that members of the LGBTQ+ community feel represented and respected in the sports world, in which we have long been hidden. The club continuously fills me with pride as we grow in numbers, improve our abilities and support one another during training. Whatever your background or experience in GAA, our team will welcome you! - Dearbhla, Na Laochra Aeracha GAA Club
Since joining the multiple LGBT teams in Cork a few years ago my life has dramatically changed for the better. A lot of my best friends emigrated and I realized I was a lot less social than I was before, so once COVID restrictions were lifted I joined the Cork Rebels and I was welcomed into a community of like- minded people where I really felt warm and welcomed. I went from not going for a run in years to playing multiple different LGBT sports thanks to the communities I’ve been able to join. Pride in sport means absolutely everything to me and I’m proud of who I’ve become since joining. - Aidan, Cork Rebels Soccer Club Pride means belonging, acceptance, and the freedom to be myself. I used to think sport wasn’t for me, but that changed when I found Cork Rebels FC. This team has given me more than just a game—it’s given me a family. I’ve made incredible friends, unforgettable memories, and a space where I’m supported without judgment. We lift each other up, celebrate every win, and stand together. Sport has always been more than just a game; it’s about community. For me, Pride is knowing I have a place where I truly belong, both on and off the pitch. - Ray, Cork Rebels Soccer Club NA LAOCHRA AERACHA GAA CLUB
As an Ambassador for the Front Runners & Briskwalkers, Pride means community and visibility. Being part of an LGBT running club has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. Our AC has provided a sense of community, where I can connect with others who share similar experiences, struggles, and joys. I’ve found a support network that extends beyond just fitness. The welcoming environment fostered by the club encourages everyone to take pride in being their authentic self. Pride in sport means showing up and being the truest version of yourself while enjoying every step in the journey, both on and off the track. - Emma Harrington, Frontrunners & Briskwalkers Cork As Chairperson of Front Runners & Briskwalkers Cork, Pride represents more than a celebration; it embodies community, belonging, and resilience. Our AC is a space where LGBT+ individuals and allies can come together, support each other, and share the commonality of our experiences in Cork. Through running and walking, we foster friendships, improve physical and mental wellbeing and create a welcoming environment for all. Running has given me a network of incredible friends and a deep sense of pride in who we are. Pride in sport means showing up, being visible and proving that inclusivity and diversity belong in every stride we take. - Kieran O’Callaghan, Chairperson of Frontrunners & Briskwalkers Cork
Pride in sport is very important, especially with the club Na Laochra Aeracha, as it gives me a sense of belonging in a sport that I had previously felt somewhat isolated from when I played when I was younger. Since joining Na Laochra Aeracha, I have gained confidence in Gaelic Football and Hurling thanks to the great support and respect that my teammates and coaches show towards me. We all take pride in being part of one team and make sure to have fun at the same time. Dar liom, tá bród an spóirt an-tábhachtach dom, go háirithe leis an gcairdeas agus féinmhuinín a bhraithim tar éis tosnú leis an bhfoireann Na Laochra Aeracha. Ba chóir go mbeadh spórt oscailte do gach duine agus spraíúil mar atá sé leis Na Laochra Aeracha go laethúil. - Alan, Na Laochra Aeracha GAA Club FRONTRUNNERS & BRISKWALKERS CORK
Joining Na Laochra Aeracha may have been a step outside of my comfort zone, but it was the best decision I have made in my adult life, enabling
