each other with kindness. The violence and bigotry that many of us encounter in public spaces, takes a significant toll on our mental health. According to many studies, LGBT+ individuals face higher rates of depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts, largely due to a society that often fails to offer acceptance. From personal experience, men have shouted remarks and made sexualizing comments when I was on dates with my girlfriend, leaving me feeling deeply embarrassed about my identity. After public dates, I would come home overwhelmed with anxiety, obsessing over who might have seen us—friends, family, anyone who didn’t know about my relationship. What if they saw me?

What if they’re all talking about me? The weight of these thoughts took a serious toll on my mental health. And while this kind of homophobia is common, I’ve seen how much worse it is for the trans community. I can’t begin to imagine how difficult it must be to navigate as a trans person in Ireland. Kindness is a radical act, and we need it now more than ever. Through these designs, I want to remind people of the importance of kindness in creating a more inclusive society. Please continue to treat people with kindness.

Treat People With Kindness is a simple but powerful message that resonates deeply within the LGBT+ community. I’ve created a series of designs that carry this message, each one containing the beautiful colours of the different flags which represent our community. The LGBT+ community in Ireland, still faces hate and discrimination, and it’s crucial now more than ever to treat
