MORE THAN A CENTURY OF PROGRESSIVE EDUCATION
Since 1922, The Orchard School has been a magical
place for generations of students. Through our
Progressive education model, children are inspired,
challenged, engaged, and taught that their ideas
matter, that their voices count. They find out that
there is not just one way to be smart; that hard
work and intellectual challenge are energizing;
that character, citizenship, and integrity are as
important as reading, writing, and arithmetic.
And, perhaps most importantly, they learn that
the contribution of each, no matter how small, is
valuable and vital.
Learning at Orchard sometimes feels like the
best aspect of play; we do it with laughter and
passion and, because the students are motivated,
it doesn’t feel like work. For more than 100 years,
students have accomplished great things in our
classrooms, on our stage, and in our woods and
fields. We encourage young people to become
lifelong learners. In this process, they will figure out
who they are and how they can make an important
contribution to society.
Our school is a transformative place, one that truly
cultivates and shapes children into remarkable
young adults who will go on to create our future.
We aim to put graduates out into the world
who will create lives with purpose that they are
passionate about as they contribute to making the
world a better place.
