SECOND GRADE AT THE ORCHARD SCHOOL

¡Hola!
In second grade, there is a gradual shift from receptive to productive use of the Spanish language. Indiana World Language standards are incorporated in thematic units that reinforce an understanding of our differences by centering the units around a central question, “What are the experiences that make us human?” Students continue to develop skills and comfort with conversation, listening comprehension, writing and grammar, and deep intercultural appreciation. Gestures and Total Physical Response encourage language acquisition without the use of translation. Folk songs, literature, art, poetry, outdoor education, and technology are integrated into daily lessons and collaborative projects in Spanish.
