Dear Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in the appointment of Head of Estates & Facilities with Elysium Healthcare, an independent provider of mental health, learning disability and neurological services in the UK. Elysium Healthcare are seeking a Head of Estates & Facilities to hold overall responsibility for their portfolio of highly integral assets, which are responsible for providing specialist health services in the UK. They will hold overarching responsibility for the Estate Management for the portfolio, overseeing and ensuring that planned maintenance is carried out to the highest of standards ensuring high quality procurement of maintenance services.

Able to influence a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will ideally be an experienced chartered professional with a background in the healthcare sector, with strong personal values and integrity at the heart of everything they do.

The Avalon Centre The Avalon Centre is a purpose built neurological centre in Swindon, Wiltshire, for men and women over the age of 18 years, who have an acquired brain injury. The service is a single storey, 20 bed building, set in two acres of private gardens. Located near the town of Swindon in Wiltshire, the service is registered as an independent hospital and can also support people who may be detained under a section of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Jubilee House Specialist care home with nursing in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

This mixed gender service is for people living with learning disabilities, autism and sensory and communication impairments. The unique building design provides six very robust single person apartments and communal spaces including, lounges, dining room and laundry. Each apartment is designed to a high specification and has its own lounge/ diner, bedroom with en-suite wet room. The extensive garden area provides private outdoor space with sensory features.

The Spinney This purpose-built medium, low secure and rehabilitation wards, located in Manchester, is set within an 11-acre site with extensive woodland and landscaped areas.

The service offers a positive alternative for women to be

managed outside a conventional hospital setting. Comprising of individual apartments with access to shared living environments and therapy space, they allow people to have their own individual space with staff to support 24 hours a day.

Crossley Place A Specialist apartment-based model of care for women with complex mental health needs, situated in Rainhill, Prescot. The service offers a positive alternative for women to be managed outside a conventional hospital setting. Comprising of individual apartments with access to shared living environments and therapy space, they allow people to have their own individual space with staff to support 24 hours a day.

The Cottage The Cottage is part of our Learning Disability and Autism division and provides care and support to adults who have a learning disability and/or mental health needs. The site is specifically designed to provide small group or single person environments, replicating an ordinary living setting. These allow for the development of daily living skills aimed at a move towards more independent living.

The Limes A Specialist Mental Health and rehabilitation service in Langwith, Nottinghamshire. The Limes is a specialist rehabilitation service for men with a mental illness and/or Personality Disorder. The aim of the service is to equip the service user with the skills needed for community living and increased independence. The service is located in the village of Langwith, Nottinghamshire and is just a short walk away from local amenities.

Tottle Brook House Specialist Learning Disability & Autism Community Based Living in Nottinghamshire. The unique building design at Tottle Brook House provides five single person apartments and communal spaces including, lounges, dining room, sensory spaces and laundry. Each apartment has its own lounge/diner and bedroom with ensuite wet room. There is also access to a private shared garden.

Brighton And Hove CAMHS Tier 4 Eating Disorder Service Brighton & Hove Clinic provides a CAMHS Tier 4 Eating Disorder service for young people aged 12 up to 18 years with a primary diagnosis of eating disorder; or an eating difficulty with a co- morbid presentation for example mental health or psychological issues, such as depression, OCD or anxiety or self-harm. Our 16 bed inpatient unit provides a warm and nurturing environment

so that we can identify and understand the symptoms, patterns and origins of

psychological distress and help patients manage their condition.

4.0 Job Description

Job Title: Head of Estates & Facilities

Reports to: Commercial Director

Estate Management:

technical systems and that these are effectively used to support delivery of the objectives of the team.

• Build a network of local and national suppliers for planned and emergency facility works. • Support Regional and Site estate management to ensure that sites are well kept, maintained and pro-actively invested in. • Develop, manage and maintain the implementation of a 5-year rolling planned maintenance programme. • Provide, procure, and develop effective and efficient facilities management services, based upon the highest professional and business standards. • Provide advice and guidance on all property related aspects of health, safety and environmental matters and to ensure legislative compliance with all health and safety requirements. • To supervise the procurement and control of all sub-contracted building work on premises including leased buildings, and for drawing up programmes of refurbishment, adaptation and alterations to existing buildings within a minor works programme. • To liaise with external design and consultancy professionals and to act as representative on new projects.

• Ensuring awareness of the sensitive nature of the locations and how best to undertake Estates issues across them. • Consistently ensuring safety standards are prioritised, ensuring due diligence. • Puts patient safety and confidentiality above all, adhering to Elysium’s core values and behaviours.

Risk Management:

• Ensure the appropriate risk profile for the Estates portfolio and develop strategies for minimising such exposure. • Manage the operational risk register for Estates, and ensure risks are mitigated. • Contribute to the overall organisations risk register. • Ensure that relevant statutory requirements, including health and safety are adhered to in relation to both new build projects, refurbishments and the existing Estate.

Communication:

• Deliver clear and concise communication to all stakeholders. • Ensure that appropriate guidance on estates matters is available to all relevant staff.

People and Team Management:

• Assist with the recruitment of local facilities and estate management teams to ensure high quality individuals are in post. • Effective team management, people

Budget and Procurement Management:

• Previous experience of working for or with a Later Living, Specialist Care Provider, or Private Healthcare provider. • Demonstrable experience managing multiple site facilities and maintenance projects. • Proven track record of writing and presenting complex information to a wide range of stakeholders. • Proven track record of success of working at a senior management / strategic level within a complex organisation. • Proven track record and substantial relevant experience of responsibility for managing a complex property portfolio, multi-disciplinary team and significant budgets. • Substantial experience of managing estates operations and maintenance.

• A chartered professional qualification in a property-related discipline (eg estates management, construction or surveying). • Experience of managing change and creating appropriate staffing structures.

Personal skills / attributes:

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of people at varying levels of seniority and across directorates. • Experience of working for or with a Later Living, Specialist Care Provider, or Private Healthcare provider. • A lively and creative mind, with the ability to identify imaginative and innovative solutions to complex problems. • Excellent leadership and management skills required to develop and lead effective and well-motivated multi-disciplinary estates teams across multiple locations. • Collaborative influencing and negotiating skills. • The ability to grasp issues quickly and work under pressure. • Strong financial management skills and experience of delivering stretching targets. • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to express him/herself clearly and succinctly both orally and in writing. • Able to quickly establish credibility with and command the respect of senior managers as well as external advisers. • Self-motivated, and able to work on own initiative. • Flexible in approach and able to operate in a team environment. • Resilient and adaptable.
